So, the 29th anniversary is coming closer ... Would be anyone here interested in a merge of the best available sources for Status Quo, Big Country and Queen?[/QUOTE]

I would!
I never get enough of this concert. For me personally, it is the most magical concert from any band. The legend is incredible and the fact that was Freddie´s last concert makes it so special, considering the fact that more than 80.000 people without tickets showed up (this is more than a Wembley).
Freddie had a magical farewell. Amazing!

Another fact that is rather sad; A person died at the concert. The person climbed up something to get a better view, but fell on top of another guy, and he killed the other person.

The photo on page 1 of this thread is definitely Knebworth 86.

The black kit on the riser is Roger's Yamaha. The cross stage walk way behind the kit is visible. It runs behind the two black scaffold towers, as it did in Wembley. The towers were put in to support the wider stage roof and large heavy video screen used at both shows.

Also John Deacon's Sunn backline can be seen behind the backline being used by the band on stage. Also if you look further over to stage right the guy dressed in red has his back to Freddie's piano monitors and the keyboard end of Freddie's Steinway can also be seen.

I can't see any question over this photo, it's a Queen gig on Magic Tour and could only be Wembley or Knebworth.

He had the same pants in Knebworth but was he ever shirtless in Knebworth? I don't think the bootleg video shows him shirtless

Correct, he indeed was. So yes, the chance that it's from Knebworth Park is pretty high

He's indeed shirtless starting at the end of WWRY. I remember the screen showed him taking off that caped jacket near the end of said song. I've never seen that pic before, looks badass

I was 16 in ‘86 and this was my first big gig. I’d only seen a few bands in small theatres before this.

My Dad drove me up from Glastonbury where we lived, and I remember being stuck in a traffic jam on the way and being surrounded by coaches with the people inside all clearly listening to radio ga-ga and doing the handclaps.

I’d never seen so many vehicles headed to one place before....

We got there, I went in, and I remember finding the whole atmosphere just a little bit intimidating (my Dad had no interest in rock music so went into the nearest town instead and I was on my own). I remember bottles flying, and urine splashing on me. It wasn’t great.

I hated Belouis Some, and Big Country. Didn’t mind status quo but just wanted Queen to come. I’m sure I remember Roger and one of his children being glimpsed side of stage but maybe that was Brian as others have mentioned,

The crowd went wild then and also when the helicopter flew over.

The gig was amazing as you would imagine, although I remember being confused. I didn’t have the massive musical knowledge that I have now so I thought the cover versions were Queen songs which I didn’t know which I didn’t think was possible as I had everything at that point even import 12 inches such as pain is so close to pleasure. Must have been years before I realised the truth. How embarrassing.

Someone else mentioned the fences coming down. My dad got back from the town just as Queen were coming on. He walked in the back for nothing, stood there, watched them come on stage - and thought “too bloody loud and horrible noise”. He then went and sat in the car for the rest of the night.

Took us four hours to get out of the car park. My dad was tanking.

Looking back I owe him so much for taking me.

My apologies if I’ve bored you. I’ve seen so many very very special gigs over the years - the one was right at the top.
