Sorry if this has been talked about already on this forum, but I'm interested in knowing what new material may be included in the re-issues of the Queen catalog?  I became a Queen fan in 1993-1994, so I was thrilled when I was able to find all of the Queen albums re-released by Hollywood Records here in America.  I plan to purchase the albums because I want to have them remastered, but would really love for them to have new stuff.

Chicago, another fav band of mine, did the same with Rhino records, which was pretty good (even though I think it lost steam by their 18th album, still not able to find that reissue).  Each album had original artwork and more pictures from that time period, with more in-depth reviews of the album.  It also included demo's, live tracks, etc. on each album.  I would love to see Queen do this as well.

Will the new albums have the added tracks remastered as well (like "Forever," "Scandal 12' inch version," etc.) that we found from the Hollywood Records reissues?

Sorry for so many questions, I'm very excited for this and hope the real fans are the ones in mind when Universal celebrates 40 years of Queen!!!

RE:  Chicago

Yes, they stopped the re-issue after Chicago 17...  that was the deal with Rhino, they wanted the first 17 albums only... basically the Cetera albums.

But aside from a couple of b-sides, there were no unreleased gems on the re-issues... just performances or rehearsals that you may have never heard.

The cool thing about the later albums, is that they contain different versions that were on the original Warner Brothers releases.  For example, on Chicago 17, the track "Please Hold On" is a completely different take of the original including a new verse never heard before.  On Chicago 13, we get Street Player in its full form.  The original LP, cassette, and 45rpm all were different edits of this original track.

Same thing with the Rhino Re-issues of the Yes catalogue.

Plus some artwork / photos / liner notes that I had never seen before.

Now THAT'S what I want Queen to do.  No more remastered remasters of the original remastered masters.

Seems that a Polish Queen website (dont have the link, only heard it via via) posted that the Queen re-issues will be in two editions; a 1CD version and a 2CD version (which will be limited and available for one year only). The 2nd disc holds 5 extra tracks (probably the same for every album) plus audio commentary.

June: NOTW, Jazz, The Game, Hot Space, Flash Gordon
September: The Works, AKOM, The Miracle, Innuendo, Made In Heaven

and separate in July: a special remaster edition of  The Platinum Collection

Five extra tracks and an audio commentary?
That's taking the piss somewhat.

Thanks Microwave for the Chicago insight.  Now I'll stop looking for 18 and beyond!  What a shame though, I especially love Chicago 19.  Cool to see other Chicago fans on here!

It would be great for Queen to do something similar.  2CD set?  I think I'll buy that instead.  I wonder what those 5 tracks may be?

Only 5 tracks???? No, that can't be real. I hope...
God save the Queen-hub!!

5 extra tracks for each album it means 90 tracks more!

I don t believe..

For me it has no sense...it ll never come out a box set doing in this way!

Five tracks?

We'll never hear anything really rare and interesting. And "box set" would never be released.

Abandon all hope. There's only darkness ahead.

Ah the rumours start...
I reckon if you're going to start a rumour, base it around a fact of some description.
2 cd and 1 cd editions eh? The catalogue released at three points during the year?

Funny, cos the press release stated the release of only the first 5 albums.
Gentleman, you can't fight in here - this is The War Room!

5-extra-songs news is from official Universal Music Poland website:

Sounds pretty official to me.  Ugh....the suspense is killing me on the possible 5 tracks...I hope it's great stuff.  I'd love some demo's, B-sides, unreleased material, etc.  Audio commentary on each album and track?  YES PLEASE!!!

And releasing two different editions does make sense...1 CD for the new fan, a 2CD sp. edition for the older fans.
