Just to clarify, yes...those are 100% authentic fan comments. A drop in the ocean of the madness that is the Adam Lambert superfan community. So, yes, somebody actually compared that video to the transformational cultural touchstone that was 'Thriller'. Honestly, being such a hugely dedicated music fan myself I am torn about poking at these people. On the one hand, who am I to lowball the joy anybody gets from the music that inspires them. But on the other hand, this nonsense does affect the shared culture. So, seriously, Mrs. Fan, IT'S NOT THRILLER. Jesus.[/QUOTE]
It's FRIGHTENING because these kids only have MJ as a point of reference and apparent REVERENCE... but they never grew up with him or any of the eras that encompassed change etc. Therefore they have no familiarity with the "sea change" of it all, or the BackStreet boy bs NSYNC era which saw everybody immitating Michael the best they could.

Aside from THAT.. the obvious is that Michael was largely charismatic as a performer. Nothing seen here, just gotta dismiss it as kiddies talking out their arse... i'm certain i did some of it at a point in my life... i just can't remember when... ....or if i even did..

That's the thing...many, many, many of these people are not kids. A huge part of Lambert's fan base are women my age who DID live through Thriller etc. The Thriller lady said "but I remember clearly the effect MJ’s Thriller video had on the music video industry, and somehow BTIKM feels much the same way to me". She was there. And she still thinks this pap is important!! Like 'Thriller' important. I weep.

If I put words in your mouth Michael, I am sorry, as I should have said you were implying those things about Adam Lambert, and as your support for Adam Lambert is pretty passionate, I'd call that a fair statement. What I'd like to know is how you determine who and what is negative?

Think of Queen as a restaurant. At one time they were standard bearers in the industry, serving only the finest food and drink with panache. But then the old chef retired, and the maitre'd died, and the restaurant closed for a number of years, but decided to reopen. When they reopened, their menu was heavy on steak and potatoes just like the good old days in the 70s, but didn't really account for new food trends and offered no new dishes. Plus they had a rotating group of chefs who knew how to cook, just weren't masters like the old chef, and the old maitre'd who made the place buzzworthy with a one of a kind personality was replaced by a hotshot out of cooking school who knew how to act like a maitre'd, but lacked the skills to fully understand the role. Would you enthuse about the restaurant? Say they're trying even though they haven't anything to sell but nostalgia of the old place, and people who go to restaurants should quit being negative and accept what they're offering? Or would you say, that place was amazing in its day, but time moves on, I'm interested in current tastes? I'd do that, and for the life of me I don't see how that makes me negative.

the lambert song in the video above is the best he has to offer? jesus christ, what an unremarkable song.
did he even write it? if he did, he needs to go back to the drawing board.
if he didn't, he obviously has more faith in this song than anything he can write himself. which says it all really...

He is a co-writer.

He wouldn't get this song near radio or video without American Idol.

He is the baddest of bad asses at 1:15 when he swigs the vodka out of the bottle but sings a line a second later without spilling a drop. Waiting for the "Adam Lambert, inventor of Air Vodka" comments on Amazon.

I don't even think he's a co-writer. If Wikipedia is to be believed, he's not.

So not much, other than the unavoidable fact that anybody drooling over absolute dreck invites puzzlement and amusement at their own expense.  Michael Allred.

karaoke fans;

until lambert start to write some great songs on his own, he will never hold any currency in the music world.

it's nice and jolly that he has a loyal following who worhips his selection of cover songs (and in most cases - snippets of cover songs!!)

it's all in the songs though, and lambert doesn't have them. simple as that
