Sounds like none of them were particularly thrilled.

Roger pioneered disco in Queen music, so he shouldn't complain. But yeah, the thread starter is an idiot

*It was Rog? I've always thought that was John.
Roger wrote Fun it and Fight From the Inside, which sound sort of funky, before John wrote Another One Bites the Dust

Hot Space is my favorite Queen record (shoot me later), and yes, I'm gay.
If you think ANYTHING Roger said was homophobic then you need to get your head screwed on straight (no pun intended).
What a load of bollocks!!!!
Roger's homophobic and yet sits on stage and puts his hand on Adam Lambert's knee in a friendly (not sexual) manner??!!? Oh, not to mention how he dressed up in drag for not only I want to break free but The Great Pretender.
I think it's safe to say he's comfortable around gay people. Oh yeah, and one of his best mates was gay too.... Fred!
If you're not trolling then you're extremely dumb. I hope it's the first. Because I don't mind writing what I have in front of anyone else who could believe such crap.

He said that Paul Prenter tried to move Freddie (and the band) towards gay club music and he did not like that. Really homophobic of Roger that he wanted to play Rock music and not club music ;-)
what a sad day when people can't have opinions upon fear of offending someone. I'm bisexual and I'm not insulted by Roger's comment, it was his band too and had a right to an opinion on the musical direction. The manager was clearly hopping on the disco bandwagon that was very big in the gay community but Queen have and always will be be a band for everyone, Freddie did say that it didn't matter about race, colour or creed after all.

@Hannahbal: YourValentine was being sarcastic there.

I know it is a little late to be pointing this out, but just because he didnt want to change his music doesnt make him homophobic. All he said was he didn't want it to sound like it was club music. He just wanted to stick to his genre. Geez, people.

Freddie was into that Music and so was John.
Not really. That's always been a misunderstood point... John liked R&B, blues, jazz, funk, disco, but not necessarily house music, and he publicly said a couple of times that he didn't like 'Hot Space.' People tend to misblame him for the album because of the 'Another One Bites the Dust' connexion but the truth is John was *less* involved on 'Hot Space' than any of his bandmates.

It's allowed to not like what people do, you can still like the person.

Hot Space is house music?
Also I'd like to see sources of that John didn't like Hot Space. Interesting.

Hot Space has way more merit and balls then the albums that followed, like Works and AKOM. Yea, it didn' t pay off, but in hindsight they were on to something. Crossover, mixing genres, blending rock with other directions. You can like Hot Space or not, and that is all swell. I can't stand some the songs there, but songs like Back Chat, Dancer, and Staying Power mean more to me then bland inputs like Put Out The Fire, or Action This Day.
And as far as this homophobe crap. Well, it' s crap.

No, it's not. 'Hot Space' has eleven songs, each one of them is in a different genre or style, although some of them could be pigeonholed in the same one.

http://www.deaky.net/tonight/ml82-12.html: They're asked about 'Hot Space', John replies ????????????! (I don't like it at all!).
http://www.deaky.net/rain/superstars-G.html: John's asked about the best and worst moments of the band. He says the best were Live Aid and the South American tour, and the worst was 'Hot Space.'
It makes sense: John was the band member who had least input on the album, and the one whose role suffered the most.
