Please stop using the name Queen for a 2 man band. To bring Freddie back alive with a hologram was great, but don't perform with other singers. It's a disgrace,

For me Brian was kind of a comic character....his laughable outfit with that patch (was it a fox or a badger?).
Music was like always - "We Will Rock You", this time with an international widely unknown chick on vocals....after jerking the guitar with parts of Brighton Rock.

They´re killing the name of Queen again and again and again.

What about a new book "From Killer Queen to Queen killer" ????

I was disappointed with the show, no a good presentation of the great british music. Only patchwork - like "Queen" is today.

The Who played right at the end.[/QUOTE]
I live in the US Midwest, we were shown the Freddie screens, edited FU,and the entire Queen segment. I also watched the live feed early in the afternoon. NBC cutout I believe all performers after Queen (Ray Davies, Muse, the Who)so as far as the US knew Queen ended the music tribute ( which is cool in my opinion) Now days like another poster stated, I enjoy the moment as it evolves,I too loved Brian playing and walking up the ramp very dramatic! I am not a fan of female vocalists but I take this as Jessie J supposedly the hotest person in pop right now paired up with the old rock royalty of Queen. I didn't really pay attention to her, but enjoyed watching Brian and Roger. I too was hoping for a roger solo! It is ALWAYS nice to see Queen on American TV.

1968!!! that solo...definitely...because the Brighton rock solo started life on the Smile track "Blag"....

so shame on you Brian...a 44 yr old guitar solo

Brian was fine. It's somewhere between musical ignorance and tone deafness to say it's the 'same' solo, because it isn't, but the fact that he did it in the first place was a bit silly. So he got to try some subtly different harmonies - good for him, but being that it was the Olympics he might've given that time to something else. Still, Brian, you've finally made it - you were on the same bill as The Who!

Jessie J was a squawking moron. Muse were an utter fucking joke. In between a mimed guitar solo and the dumbest lyrics on the planet, I was seriously wondering what the fuck I was watching.

Thank God the Who showed up at the end to give this shit some respectability.

i never said it was "the same solo", i said "it started life on BLAG"...which makes it's origin 44 yrs old

of course there are going to be sublte differences...but impying it was anything very different is like saying that "golden delicious" is so far removed from apple to be almost a potato

when watching it, all i could think was "ffs Brian, do something different..not this again?...and get a fucking haircut you look like catweazle"

So NBC cut others out altogether. Yeah, I didn't see Muse. They went to extinguish the Olympic flames right after Brian. It seemed fitting to me that they had saved the best for last, and now I'm finding that NBC axed or relocated others, and all so they could jam that grinning monkey down our throats, at which point we switched channels.

There's opposing groups beginning to raise a little hell over Brian making a political statement about the foxes and badgers in his coat design. That sort of thing may keep him from getting invited to appear at something else. I enjoyed seeing him, whatever he was playing, all dressed up, and Roger with his bank of kettle drums. Didn't appreciate Jessie J, so pretty much ignored her caterwauling.

I thought that was the Queen logo on the back of Brian's coat that I kept gettting a glimpse of but it is this:

Brian's coat (and oufit) reminds me of harry potter's quidditch team, anyone?

I would think that people "raising hell" over Brian's political statement was the intent. Otherwise why do it?

Precisely what I thought! And what a better way to draw attention to the cause than to take advantage of the Olympics appearance, which would be viewed probably by millions, to make a statement that way :-)

Well I guess -  he went to no small amount of trouble and expense, having that elaborately looong-tailed evening coat outfit made up to poke them in the eye! A lot of others think it was a grand idea. Interesting to see how it plays out.

I would love to know what Deacon thinks. If I could have been a fly on any wall, it would definitely be his.

My concern is the same as it always is - that his passion outperforms his judgement and effectiveness on this issue. One can admire the commitment and cheek in co-opting the world stage for a personal cause, and find it curious and a little off putting at the same time. I did raise an eyebrow at the incorporation into the stylized Q. Queen belongs to four people, and I did question the merging of a personal/political issue with band imagery. He's done it with Save Me as well, but that was his song. It's not just his 'Q'. :)

I do appreciate the thought he puts into his outfits for these grand occasions though, however they come off. To me it means he's still engaged with something that's vitally Queen, or vitally Brian May, or vitally rock star or performer, or something. As a fan you can't help but respond to that when it feels as authentic as it does.
