Yes, I know what you mean, GratefulFan. He seems to have reached a point where he has placed Save Me at a higher priority than Queen. He said as much recently in that he would rather be remembered for defending animals than for music. Perhaps it is time he went on his own and disassociates himself from Queen in order to do this. I sometimes wonder if he is able to psychologically make that break.

Also I thought Elton John and Rolling Stones were surprising omissions (unless they are unable to perform due to health issues and such). And Heroes should have been the Bowie song instead of Fashion IMO.

I was surprised at the Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here" only having Nick Mason on drums and no other Floyd members. Dave Gilmour and Roger Waters are both still around and finally just about on speaking terms.

There were other odd choices for the night. David Bowie not actually present, bands I've never heard of (who are Muse?) and so on.

In the grand scheme of things the Queen section was quite sensible. And I quite liked Jessie J, shame her mic had hideous echo on it for the first half of We Will Rock You. Somebody seemed to notice and turned the echo off for the second half.

At least Jesse J stole from Freddie's wardrobe ideas. That diagonal one arm one leg leotard is exactly the sort of thing Freddie wore many years ago.

So... has there been any commentary/controversy in the UK over Brian's fox/badger coat? From my vantage point here in Canada, it seems that it was generally not noticed and ignored.

Yes, he was criticized a great deal by the country folk in the UK for using the Olympics to make a political statement. Save Me released their own statement saying that the costume celebrated British wildlife by depicting a variety of birds and animals (the others were on the back of his coat, arranged loosely on the pattern of the Queen logo). The controversy seems to have prety much blown over by now.

Hard to say from that night's performance...

Muse USED to be one of the biggest bands in the country. Unfortunately all the momentum they had has been evaporated since they haven't shown their faces anywhere bar that horrible performance on the olympics for years now.
