Here is another missing bit in Freddie's speech before Who wants to live forever:

Freddie says at some point ''If it wasn't for you we would not be here tonight, EVEN THIS IS OUR FIRST NIGHT, thank you very much we will be back'' etc..

The line ''Even this is our first night'' is missing on the new release.
"Even though this is our first night" ... but yes, you're right. Good catch !

Any chance you would do the same for Knebworth - audience recording and Live Magic please ?
There are just two overdubs on the Knebworth material on Live Magic..

-Brian's backing vocal in One Vision
-Brian's guitar triad in the sixth bar of Seven Seas Of Rhye

Besides that it's just edits, as our friend Battler has outlined above with excellence.

I don't care what any performer says... you won't find a live release of any kind that doesn't have some kind of minor fixes / edits on it. And I consider these Budapest edits (esp. considering what a perfectionist band Queen were in the studio) minor and perfectly fine.

Hearing Freddie's voice crack on FBG from Live at the Bowl is interesting, and yes true to history, but not what i want coming out of my speakers every time i play the song...

Refreshing and much-needed perspective. Excellent post overall.

The shriek sound at "One flash of light" in One Vision has been removed in Hungarian Rhapsody.

Edit: As for the edits in Hungarian Rhapsody being minor and perfectly fine, I fully agree with that.

Edit #2: Slight correction - above I said that in Live Magic, God Save The Queen is missing completely. That was a mistake. What I meant was actually that God Save The Queen is present completely.

As for Queen Live releases, I'd like to see the following:
Live In Rio '85 - full both nights on 1 DVD and 2 CD per night (they have audio and video according to Rhys Thomas so it should be doable);
Live At Knebworth Park '86 - full audio on 2 CD.
Live In Mannheim '86 - full audio on 2 CD.
Live In Japan '85 - full night on DVD and 2 CD.
Live In Japan '82 - full night on DVD and 2 CD.
Concert for People of Kampuchea at Hammersmith '79 - full concert on DVD and 2 CD.
Live In Japan '79 - full night on DVD and 2 CD.
Live In Paris '79 - full concert on DVD and 2 CD.
Live In Houston '78 - full concert on DVD and 2 CD.
Live In Earls' Court '77 - full concert on DVD and 2 CD.
Live At Hyde Park '76 - full concert on DVD and 2 CD.
Live At Hammersmith '75 - whatever they have on DVD and full concert on 1 or 2 CD.
Live At The Rainbow '74 - full concert on DVD and 2 CD.
Note when I say DVD, I mean release both DVD and Blu-ray versions if applicable (DVD only for those concerts that were filmed in SD TV format or the like).

I compared some more now - the little guitar warm up before Crazy Little Thing Called Love is also missing from the Hungarian Rhapsody CD's.
It isn't missing, it's been brought down in the mix. Listen to it pretty carefully - you will hear the faint sounds of it.

Or ... didn't someone once say there were Freddie overdubs on Under Pressure? I don't remember any off hand. The Roger backing vocal in the second verse that was on the old VHS has been removed.
That wasn't Roger's backing vocal - actually, it was David Bowie's.

Btw, the level of the audience noise has been increased.

Are you saying that they took Bowie's backing vocal from the studio and played it back on the track at the life gigs? I can't see that, especially with having to change the tempo etc. I'm sure Roger sang it on the live gigs.

I reply to the list of live releases based on the officially filmed gigs we know of, I'm sure I read somewhere before that the footage cut for the Japan 82 VHS release was binned (the same of Montreal and Budapest). Can anyone back up my memory on this??

The negatives for Budapest have never been confirmed destroyed. Their whereabouts were known for 10 years but disappeared around 1996. Hopefully they will turn up.

Damn! I was fooled there :-) I've just listened to this very bit on the old release (hadn't listened to it in a while), and really it appears to be Roger. But his vocals in that very moment DO sound like Bowie's!

He does do a good Bowie impression at times - I'm presuming its Roger who speaks the 'while you are imagining, imagine for instance.....' Intro on The Cross' version of Heaven For Everyone, and that's VERY reminiscent of Bowie.

^ I'd be happy any of with these.

That said, Paris 79 probably won't happen (at least on video) because the video quality hasn't stood the test of time. Maybe some Paris tracks will be bonus material on the reissue of Live Killers .. ?

Japan 79 probably won't happen either because Mercury's voice was in poor shape. But the quality of the video master is apparently amazing from what I've heard.

The guitar track was muted, but it's still heard because other mics will still pick things... i.e. "bleeding."

And thank goodness. It sounds much more like a concert now.
