That said, Paris 79 probably won't happen (at least on video) because the video quality hasn't stood the test of time. Maybe some Paris tracks will be bonus material on the reissue of Live Killers .. ?

Are you shure about the Paris 79 video? I got the impression after the Rhys Thomas Q&A a couple months ago that the Paris 79 was good for DVD. This is what Rhys said:

http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/yywu6/iama_rhys_thomas_freddie_mercury_documentary

Question from medcur: "From any footage you've seen or heard about whilst researching the documentaries, are there any unreleased concerts you think might possibly see the light of day?"

Rhys answer: "Rainbow is great and we found the uncut concert with Seven Seas of Rhye and Flick of The Wrist on there. Also Paris 79 - maybe a Live Killers Box."

I thought paris was shot with only one camera, from what i seen on youtube, unless there is another source. But anyway a live killers audio box set would be awesome.

Such a shame that Japan 79 is reportedly in such good quality, but Freddie's obvious vocal problems will indeed stop this one coming out. Perhaps some of the better tracks could be salvaged as extras (I'm In Love With My Car and the guitar solo at the least shouldn't be hit by Freddie's throat issues!)

^ I'd be happy any of with these.

Japan 79 probably won't happen either because Mercury's voice was in poor shape. But the quality of the video master is apparently amazing from what I've heard.[/QUOTE]

Given the words Rhys Thomas once said (as mentioned above), Paris 79 must happen some day!

Although, we sure can't say the same about Tokyo 79, and it's such a pity.
Of course, Freddie's voice wasn't great on that very night but if the quality is amazing, it would make a great release.

Btw, what is the source of the info of the amazing Tokyo quality?

I do agree, these two tracks could be released as extras to some release from that era. Fingers crossed.

Blimey - that's really surprising. Even Q&PR In Ukraine went straight in at No 2.

I'm not too sure about that. I was at all 3 nights in Paris and I can assure you the French do not scream like that. It sounds like a Japanese concert with the bonsoir bit overlaid.

Without a doubt, the audio has been mangled with. It's from a 1979 TV special called "The Champions."

The footage is certainly from Paris. It matches the audience recording from 2-28-79. But the Japanese audience has been added on top.

While the live footage in the special is from Paris and Tokyo, they often use the Live Killers audio, sometimes switching back and forth from the genuine concert audio and LK - and the Japanese audience is periodically added into the mix of the non-Japanese tracks.

I have spent years analyzing this stuff... so trust me on this one :-)

The Budapest footage shown in the A Magic Year documentary, where was it taken from? From what I see, I see it includes a part of Hammer to Fall that was cut from the official footage. Maybe some Hungarian TV broadcast?
