It's just fuckin laughable. A YouTube channel to show static objects?
Are they fuckin retards? Why not a website?
And the Rainbow thing? You know, don't bother. I couldn't give a shit anymore.

Here you got a picture of the original films used for the RAINBOW show....

Greg fuck you and QP! People want new releases, new live concerts, new demos, new rarities! In the last 20 years I only saw the same things: Wembley and shit collections. Hungarian Rhapsody would be a great release but as usual was mediocre. I hate you, Jim Beach and all QP!

So this is real? I had my doubts.

"I find it amazing that some people can't tell the difference in picture quality"
The Rainbow gig throws some people (actually, it confused me the first time I saw any of it). I think the reason is that as it was stored on film (maybe for longevity?) the colour profile changed a bit, if you will. It also wouldn't have as many of the ugly age-related artefacts that you get on video of a similar age.
I'm extrapolating, here. I've been told it was shot on video and stored on film - if I've mucked any of that up, feel free to correct me. All in all I think it's a great idea though.

Its the whole film/video thing again.
Was it recorded on a moving picture camera or not?! :/

I do not really care if it was on video or film. Whenever I buy an old concert on dvd/BR, I am not anticipating the same quality as a recorded concert of 5 years ago. Film or video, so what if it has 10 pixels less. Fact is that QPL have it in their archive on a media that can be watched which is good.

As far as I am concerned a rare tracks/clips channel is a nice idea, I don't spend hours trawling the internet for rare stuff, in fact I suspect even having been queen fan since the 70's I am still to hear dozens of rare tracks that the fans have had on their shelves for years.
Sound good to me, crack on with it

Sorry, is that a joke? It's not rare clips/tracks. It's clips of inanimate "stuff". A fan club scarf, A Day At The races belt, a badge from Earl's Court, a bloody Miracle paperweight! A Polish pic disc etc,
All things that would be more sensible on a web-site. Utterly mental.

There is some Hyde Park stuff shot on 16mm (or perhaps even 8mm?). It's silent and pre-concert footage of celebs turning up for the show and some aerial shots.

NOOO!!!!!!! (sorry to shout - I'm not being angry I promise!!)
If video footage was 'stored' on film and the 'colour profile changed a bit' then the VHS from Box Of Tricks would look like... FILM!! But it clearly looks like what it is i.e. 2" PAL QUAD Videotape. It is 'interlaced' - 2 fields per frame. The so-called 'live' or 'fluid' look.
Watch any episode of Fawlty Towers. All the location footage is shot on film, all the studio footage is shot on videotape. With a very clear difference ;-)
Now you CAN convert film media back into the video (interlaced) look by using VIDfire. A lot of the old Doctor Who's have used these in remastering for their DVD releases.
One last thing: although I am a techy geek, the main thing I want... is to watch Queen at the Rainbow 1974!!

Once they don't fuck with the aspect ratio I'm happy.

As earwig states Rainbow 74 was clearly shot on videotape. Practically all the live material professionally shot in the 70s was shot on 2 inch quad tape.

Wouldn't it be nice if Greg came by again to answer the questions as to what media it was recorded (and was/is stored on), or even to give some more details about the project?
