I would have preferred a Queen Extravaganza tour with Brian&Roger appearing in part of the setlist and The Cross touring along.
Adam Lambert's voice hasn't passed puberty..so I wonder how they can feel it suitable to tunes that enhanced Freddie's powerful voice. Marc Martel would have been way better, I guess.

Is that all? You wouldn't hope for a herd of flying elephants to deliver Freddie back from the dead while you're at it?

Still zzzzzzzzzzzz.....Good voice, yes. Not enough for being a great performer/artist or wathewer you can call Bowie, Dylan or Freddie Mercury.

I think he has every bit the voice, stage presence, charisma and star power to be AS great as all of the aforementioned. The only thing he doesn't have to put him the legions of the great is song writing ability. He is very weak in the area.

That was pompous and "theater" beyond words. Wheres the cocaine? Maybe that's what happened. Too many years of influence from the west end. Brian loves the pomp of it. The guy sOunds like Jack Black in this clip. Without even the faintest snarl

I don't think lambert is talentless. I can distinguish between someone with little talent and someone whose voice I'm not personally that keen on. I'm in the latter category. I can see why Lambert has fans even if I don't quite get what middle-aged female fans in particular see in him (nor do I really care that much). However, I don't think he's the right fit for Queen. Some of Brian and Roger's choices since Fred died have been mystifying. Picking a blues singer in Paul Rodgers and then asking him to sing those parts of the Queen catalogue that are most unsuited to his voice was among the worst artistic choices they could've made, but at least Rodgers had some credibility for a band of Queen's status. Lambert doesn't have that, and nor is he the great singer and performer you claim. In fact, he often looks quite awkward on stage, and he's not always in control of his voice. Added to that, when he does hit the notes it doesn't sound that great. There's very little character in his voice. Maybe that will come with age? Right now his followers remind me of Bay City Rollers fans -- obsessed rather than objective. There are a number of people who could do a better job for Queen: my personal favourite at the moment is Myles Kennedy He has a great range and sounds beautiful in both the low and high register. He can sing rock songs and ballads. He is also a great songwriter and is a bit of a gunslinger on guitar. Check out this performance of Blackbird: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv-EZx-qI_8 I would pay good money to hear Myles Kennedy sing 'It's Late' or 'Spread Your Wings'. Or if you want to hear him sing a slower song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR4_chcwvoM
someonewholikesadam wrote:
Apocalipsis_Darko wrote: zzzzzzzzzzz
Let's see Martel whip the audience into a frenzy like this though. Yes, Matt Z, that IS theater beyond words. That is called entertaining and he is damn good at it.

He got better for the iheartradio gig. But I wasnt being complimentary. Neither was I about the theater thing. Alice Cooper had theater and rock. This guy is a theater (stage show as in MADAME errr... I can't even name one other than CATS)... how he's a "pop" star is a pretty amazing feat of promotion. He has range but no character.

It's alright. I kinda knew music would get worse decade by decade. Pretty soon it will just be physical stimuli.

Which while useful to prevent cancer and stop discord, has about as much soul as microwave cooking.

Matt, How you can say he has no character is beyond me. Don't you just want to take him home and comfort him? I mean the depth of emotion ....

"Take him home and comfort him"?

Not when I could slap him....
