Hai SC hai! Help me out with the whole covers thing will you? I always thought a cover was when an artist or band performed a song made a hit by another artist/band as part of an original recording.
So when Queen+AL plays music written and originally recorded by Queen, is that a cover? Musical terms are so confusing...

If you don't understand covers when they are sung by Adam, there really is no hope for you taptap.

I know rite? It's so confusing. Would you please explain it to me, because I'm sure you're right, even though all evidence points to the contrary. Just a short, simple explanation will do. I'll wait...
Look it up taptap. I'm sure the answer isn't too hard to find.

I did, but conventional wisdom defines it differently than icy wisdom. I just want to make sure I understand.
Okay, so if Journey plays Don't Stop Believin' at a concert in 2010, then Journey is covering Journey because Steve Perry has been replaced by Arnel Pineda, right?
Just want to make sure I understand this pesky concept. Whew, it's a tough one!
Also, I'd love to see a gif where adam is both wooden and cheesy. I mean that's gotta take some talent, right, being on two ends of the spectrum? I'd love to see that, so please send a link through to these thngs, mmkay?
You are really to dense not to get it, aren't you. I feel so sorry and sad for you.

Oh, you meant Adam SINGING covers! Not when he's fronting for Queen and singing Queen's original music, correct? You mean like when he throws one or two in during a concert of his own original material, like pretty much every other artist/band does, right?
BTW, I highly recommend you watch the Kennedy Honors 2012 program where Heart covered Stairway to Heaven to honor Led Zepplin - now *that* was one of the best covers I've ever heard. Still, I guess they've had a lot of practice - apparently Heart covers a lot of LZ on their concerts, which is weird, isn't it, considering how much original material they have? Huh, weird. I wonder why they do that?
But back to Adam's covers (this isn't about Heart, right?). So you don't mean Queen+AL when you're talking about Adam singing covers then. Do you mean when he's acting on Glee, where all the actors sing covers? No, you don't mean that, right, because that's the *character* Elliot Gilbert singing covers, not the *actor* Adam Lambert.
BTW, how cool is that that Ryan Murphy wants him as a guest star with the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Kristin Chenoweth? Did you know she won a Tony? How cool is that?! Adam sure hangs with some good company! Hey, maybe Adam should cover Kristin Chenoweth? Or wait, maybe it's KC that sings covers on Broadway?
I'm so confused about this whole issue.
Despite that confusion (and I'm sure you'll clear that up eventually), I sure am glad that Adam has a cool guest star gig on Glee, that he's written and performed with Avicii, and collaborated with Nile Rogers (hey, did you hear Nile say Adam is welcome to front Chic anytime! How cool is that?!). Oh and of course it's pretty cool that he's working on his 3rd album, has a Billboard #1 with his second album, has sold platinum of album #1 around the world, with single sales > 4 million units.
And it's really cool that he made $5 million last year while doing less than 30 gigs. He barely made more - $6 Million - when he did >120 gigs during his first era, but of course the era 2 venues were a lot bigger and most sold out. Cool, right, especially when they were such high-revenue spots around the world. It's nice that the foreigners are so willing to give up their apples and squirrel skins to a poor karaoke cover singer like Adam, isn't it? It's nice to know he's appreciated, even if they are places that are far, far away from me. Dang, I didn't get to attend one of those events in Asia or Eastern Europe, or the UK - no fair!
Still, it's pretty cool that he made almost $2 million in-between those two eras, while he was recording album 2. Wow, that's $12.5 million in 3 years for a karaoke cover singer! Who knew those guys could make that kind of money? Not me, that's for sure!
And now of course he's recording his third album, working with Max Martin and co. in Sweden. I'm sure you know more than I, given your extensive knowledge of the music industry, but I hear that's a pretty big coup, right?
And of course there's his collaboration with Queen on the upcoming arena tour, where most venues are already sold out, and apparently new dates are being added, effective tomorrow. That's pretty cool, too.
Yup, Adam's doing pretty fine for a karaoke cover singer ;>

Yup, you're right, it's so sad that Q+AL have to do covers of Queen music. I feel sorry for poor Brian and Roger, in particular, especially since they're original members of the group and Freddie's gone, and John's retired. I mean I know Freddie's estate is managed by JB, and it's all hunky dory with him, and I know John has a say in all activities of the band, since he still gets his share, but still, that's not as though those two have given the band Queen approval to continue performing, right? Or did they? I'm still a little confused.
Poor Brian and Roger, reduced to doing covers of Queen. You're right, it's very sad indeed. Deary me.
P.S.
I did say that Glee is covers, right? I mean that's all Glee does - covers - so I'm pretty sure that's exactly what I said above (because I'd look pretty stupid claiming something's a cover when it's not, or isn't a cover when it is, right?). Let me go back and check. Oh yeah, here it is:
"Do you mean when he's acting on Glee, where all the actors sing covers? No, you don't mean that, right, because that's the *character* Elliot Gilbert singing covers, not the *actor* Adam Lambert."
Yup, covers, that's what the actors on the television show Glee do.
And since Adam was hired to act on Glee, he does indeed sing covers. Yupper, you got that one right (although no one's ever disputed that, as is plain to see on the words quoted throughout this mish-mash).
I'm happy to see we might now be on the same page, at least with regards to Glee, if not in regards to Queen, since lol, no, Queen is not covering Queen, and therefore neither is their frontman - Adam.

I didn't say anything of the kind about Brian and Roger doing covers. I was posting about Adam. It was you who went of the rails about everyone from Chic, to Heart, to Max Martin.
It's sad Adam has to ride on other people's coattails in trying to make his mark in the music world. Adam is not or ever will be the frontman for Queen.

No, I know you didn't say anything about Brian and Roger doing covers of Queen, but that's the logical conclusion of your argument, so you're sort of stuck with it. Because you can't separate out Adam from Queen, since they're billed as Queen + Adam Lambert, right? So it's Adam fronting Queen, doing Queen's music. If Adam's covering Queen, so is Queen covering Queen, ergo Brian and Roger are covering Queen. Poor Brian and Roger. On the other hand, If Queen isn't covering Queen, then neither is Adam, as the band's frontman. Ipso facto.
Also, poor Adam, reduced to fronting Queen. Whatever will he do? See, this is what happens to all karaoke cover singers - they end up fronting for legacy bands in full arenas. It's a very sad thing.
And what's worse is what's awaiting him when he's finished with these handful (okay, a couple dozen) of arena events. More acting, more recording, more singing, more royalties...
Poor Adam - no rest for the weary karaoke cover kid :<

Poor Adam, fronting Queen, collaborating with Nile and Chic, and Cyndi Lauper and Max Martin and Avicii. Where will it all end? And now look, he's had to diversify into acting, just in case his singing job doesn't hold up. Deary me, shouldn't his 15 minutes of fame have been up long ago? It's very hard for a fan of Adam's to watch this horrendous downward slide into obscurity. Very hard. Deary me.
