1. I think Jimi would actually be in awe of much of Prince Rogers Nelson's work. He'd take the tongue in cheek purple house as a tribute
2. I don't like Adam Lambert either. "His music" (or the music written to be performed by Adam Lambert) is girlish top 40 Disney channel style pop. It is artifice and ordinary and crap
3. He DOES however have an incredible *note range. This doesn't mean he can deliver the goods in a ROCK show.
4. Brian and Roger seem to think it's a fitting end to grab a popular entertainer THAT IS GAY to promote the band AND promote the mercury Phoenix trust as well.
It would also achieve another 5 years of recognition for all the teeny boppers who seem to like Lambert
5. I'm going to a gig on this tour because it'll likely be the last time they perform in the states
6. He is a lucky s.o.b.
.... that is THE "dream gig"
Fronting Queen.
Even if he doesn't have anything near the power command of Freddie.
7. John Deacon: please give me one of your basses. I've said it before 8 times. If you're not using them, I gladly WILL

1. I agree. How could Jimi not appreciate Prince's artistry? Impossible!
2. I prefer rock music to pop, so it's unfortunate that we live in a time when pop music is so, um, popular. Still, the fact remains that Adam loves it. ¯\_(''/)_/¯
3. I love his voice, but tend to prefer his more rock versions during his live sets (they're by necessity different than the studio recordings). From when I first heard him to now, it seems to me he's worked at 'dirtying' up his voice for some of the more rock songs, and I like them a lot, but I also like the purer aspects of his voice. Some day I hope he'll cover something by Roy Orbison, as I think they share some similarities in vocal purity.
4. I agree.
5. Me too.
6. Adam is SO lucky fronting for a band like Queen! Dream gig indeed!
There are fans who see this collaboration as a side project, and prefer he focus on his own pop music, but I love it, because I love Queen's particular and unique style of rock. I'm glad Adam sees his upcoming 3rd era project, and the QAL collaboration as side-by-side things instead. Not only do I not have a problem with him doing both (and Glee and Avicii etc. etc.) I love that he's showing so much diversity and versatility.
7. That would be cool.

I want a DVD, too--and I don't care where it will be shot. I'm going to Chicago (the first night) and thought maybe that would not be a good choice because they haven't worked out any glitches, but in my experience sometimes the first night is very exciting because the adrenaline is really flowing for the performers. Then I'm going a month later to the Detroit show. I would love to have included a vacation trip either to NYC or Vegas but it isn't in the cards for me this year. I am overdue for a trip to Vegas (only trip there was in 2003) and I've never been to The Big Apple!
NYC is one of the best cities in the world! You definitely should plan a trip there. My east-coast tix are for the Mohegan Sun, though. I go to Vegas quite often, so that was a no-brainer for me.
The next issue of Rolling Stone will have a feature story about the QAL summer arena tour, titled
'QUEEN HIT THE ARENAS WITH AN IDOL ON VOCALS'.

Since this thread is upside down and hijacked I have no idea why I'm going on with it, but what the hell, no one ever accused me of being an intellect.
I'm not very good at business. I thought the object of business was to make money with a product that people wanted. Apparently I have no idea what I am talking about because 19 Records and Adam Lambert "parted ways" over "creative differences" after two albums of original material. Why in God's name (answer to follow) would a money making entity allow a multi platform (Broadway, TV, rock and roll star) talent, with a ridiculously dedicated fan base (the Glamdaddies), a package so monstrous that it has its own handle (the Spambulge), and opening week sales records in North-South-North Bolivia (south north state only) and 17 districts in Lapland be allowed to walk away? Because you, corporate soul suckers 19 Records or Entertainment, want the artist called Adam McMultiplaformBulgebuster Lambert to be a robot who has to do an alum of 80s covers? Why? Whyyyyyyyy?????????
Why? Because once the Adambabies download his album in week 1 (apparently 184,000 of them bought Trespassing in week 1 according to Wikipedia, then he sold 1,000 copies to the rest of the fan club who have dial-up), you realize, this guy has no traction as an artist with the public. 185,000 albums of a second album, tons of hype, the American Idol machine around him and that's all he sells in the US? If I were the record label I'd be pushing for a cover version to help recoup my investment. Adam Lambert is a guy with a nice voice who couldn't write a decent (forget good) song to save his life. He made his name as a karaoke contestant, he can hit the notes, doesn't understand what they mean but hey, he can get up there. If he's all that and a bag of fucking chips, why would anyone want to part ways with him???
Why? Because he's an artistic lightweight with no gravitas, that's why!!! :) :) :)
PS, I think it's great that Brian and Roger are touring and hope that everyone who goes has a smashing time. My opinion on who sings is meaningless, and they're sure as hell not listening to me. Or the people who love Adam Lambert and his ManSack ;)

Thanks, can't wait to get my issue! I saw on-line that KISS are on the cover and it is the first time after all of these years. Guess we should be happy that Adam made it to that cover the first year he was on the scene, not to mention all of the other magazine covers since then:

1. Hey, we agree on the books. I enjoyed that more than the film. Been awhile since I've read the books TBH.
2. It's not all about the money with me that AL earns. I'm sure he has enough money not to worry for a while yet
3. It was a guest role on Glee, even though some thought he would be the one and only to save the show, boost the ratings. Hasn't happened.
4.Why do you feel the need/want in saying I'm not an AL fan? Quite simply you were wrong then as you are now. I don't look at any celeb the same way I did when I first became a fan. I'm no step ford of AL, but I'm a fan. If my own word to you isn't good enough, nothing will be. If you don't think I'm a fan, no biggie
5. I honestly wouldn't lower myself to branding people as trolls, haters, and homophobes as so many as his fans do at the drop of a hat.
6. Yes, again I cannot attend a show. If I went and I didn't like it, what would be said about that?
7. It's clear to me here you, sweetcaroline, someonewholikesadam want people here and elsewhere to love the guy. Posting video upon video, articles upon articles in the hopes of him getting more fans.
8. Why take offense on his behalf, why post like a wannabe spokesperson? It's not helping him.
9. I've never said you weren't entitled to give your take on things. Ever. I'm here giving mine, if it's ok with you, not that you have to give your permission.
1. I read the series when I was in college and re-read them a few years ago.
2. I don't care about the money, although I'm sure Adam is glad to have it. I'm just happy when he gets to do the things that interest him. He seems very happy with all these projects and also appears to have a lot of new opportunities arising from his recent activities. That means success to me. The money is definitely icing on the cake, though.
3. I've never heard any fan say they thought Adam would boost the ratings on Glee. In fact you're the only one I've ever heard say that. The fans I've heard were just thrilled he was getting an acting opportunity in front of that particular demographic. Regardless of how Glee does in the end (and obviously it's going down fast, since they're already planned the end and are only going through the motions in season 6 in order to get it into syndication), Adam did what he needed to do - gained exposure, future opportunities, and a good paycheck.
4. Exactly - it's no biggie if I don't think you're a fan, it's just my opinion. Carry on with your stanning of him as you define it.
5. Good for you! It's odd that, like covers, this whole thing about trolls, haters and homophobes seems to be an obsession with you. Shakespeare had a great line for that in Hamlet - The lady doth protest too much.
6. I'm quite sure there will be people who attend a QAL concert and don't like something about it. I couldn't care less. The money will be in QAL's pockets, the media circus is assured, and both Queen and AL will no doubt gain new fans from among those who enjoy the show. Again, you as one person are irrelevant (even more so since you're not attending).
7. Of course Caroline and SOWLA and I like Adam. Duh - we're fans. That's sort of the definition of the word.
8. I don't take offense. I don't care that you don't like him. I don't care that rocknrollover doesn't like him. But we'll have to disagree that having fans doesn't help an artist, as it clearly does. QAL couldn't fill all those arenas without excited fans. Quid Quo Pro - they bring the talent, we open our wallets, everybody's happy.
9. I think that's already been covered above.
The reason so few people converse with you is that you keep bringing up the same things over and over and that stalls out any real conversation. There's only so many times you can give the same answer to the same question without becoming bored. Sorry but it's true.
It was you who often mention the money AL made.
Yep, I've read some of his fans say they hoped/wanted AL to save Glee and boost ratings.
No, you take great delight in trying to prove that I'm not a fan. I don't know why but that is your m.o with me.
The latest from you is obsession, take a long, hard look at yourself before you throw that around.
I'm a Queen fan first and foremost in case you did not know, so to call me irrelevant is pretty shitty. I think even if I attended a show, that would not be good enough.
Yea? You 3 like him and spam the crap about the guy.
Oh yes, you take offense. You sink lower in the ways you try to defend him. Fans like you, sweetcaroline, someoneonewholikesadam does not help his career.
Don't even bring up why you think so few people converse with me. You aren't the spokesperson for Queen fans, AL fans or even Q+AL fans.

How in the world is it possible to highjack a thread titled 'ADAM LAMBERT, GRAVITAS, AND SHEEP'? I mean isn't a title like that chosen for the sole purpose of a free-for-all?
As to this new post, I'm a little confused by it. The only thing that seems patently clear at the end of the day (as you scream out various versions of it several times in your post), is that you're pretty obsessed with his 'ManSack'.
Ew.
P.S.
I do believe the point of business is to make money selling a product, hence Queen's collaboration with AL and the subsequent filling of 24 arenas in North America. I think that counts as 'making money on a product' and hence fits the definition of good business.

4. Context is everything. If you reread my post you will see that I said you're irrelevant to the success of the QAL tour because you don't contribute revenues toward it. That's very different than simply saying you're irrelevant.
5. How is writing enthusiastic stuff about Adam on a thread about Adam spamming? I don't think 'spamming' means what you think it means. Well dear, do look harder. As someone who tracks so much I'm surprised you haven't seen it.

Yes, you sure did take offense.
And yes you try to tear down other artists, and you aren't the only AL fan to do so. What gives about throwing jabs at on the other music I like.
Defending an artist is one thing, but when unfounded claims that are made, it does nothing to help him. Is it necessary to brand people as haters/homophobes so easily? I think not.

I read that forum, but I never post there. It's full of old, butthurt people. If they didn't have the Adam fans to argue with they'd eat their own young.
That's been happening a lot since little by little Adam fans have gone into lurk mode there. I think they only flooded the site to get the presale codes and venue info. They'll probably be gone once they've got what they need. It seems like there's a lot more actual Queen discussion on the Adam boards these days anyway, because so many younger people want to know about Queen and don't like the nursing home. Imagine not knowing about Queen! Some people's kids lolol!
I don't even think of that place as a Queen site any more, since even the so-called Queen fans do nothing but slag Queen off - and that was happening before the QAL collaboration was born. I think it's been going on ever since the QPR collab, and is probably part of the whole eating your young thing.
It's equal parts disturbing and entertaining to be honest. There's a whole lot of GET OFF MY LAWN YOU DANG KIDS! going on over there.
