In the topic I mention here, Greg Brooks wrote:

Even that is NOT included in this set.

This release is utter crap. And that's me being gentle about it.

Wonder what that was[/QUOTE]

That is really interesting!

Aside from that, will we get any official statement regarding what treatment got the CD with tracks from the three broadcasted gigs ?

Well, one thing is for sure though and we cannot say that they failed at that. It was unofficially announced that the 3rd CD will be with previously unreleased and 'rare' stuff. No matter how (and that's a big HOW btw) they presented it to us but it's there.

They're saving it for when they reissue the set on coloured vinyl.

I remember a time when we didn't have any new releases. The fact that they are going back and releasing BBC sessions at all is great. I understand that it could be much better but I think its better for us to enjoy wherever is available at this point. The 2CD and LPs are great and they could have stopped there. We can see the 6CD version as an attempt that didn't work great but so what. We staill have most of the GG performance. I will tell you that I never thought we would have GG at all. For me that's a big bonus given that we don't know the limitations that they have to release vintage recordings (e.g., recording issues such as in See what I fool ... or even copyright issues). We don't know but that fact is I have RAINBOW and most of GG and that's much much more than I could ever dream a few years ago. Its it a wasted opportunity? A bit yes, but I'll get a glass of wine, put in GG and enjoy Queen live before they even released their first album. That fact the this record exist at all is great. Not an amazing release but lets enjoy what we have. That's Queen. They rehearsing in the bathroom is better than most of the garbage we have today. Cheers :)

The radio idea as such is not that bad. Including all (?) interviews is a nice idea. Could have been on mp3, i guess. Like the cosmos rocks will it end up somewhere ar the bottom.

Positiv is getting spread your wings in cd quality.

All concerts that were ever aired should have been added. Complete. Yes, including live aid.

I see that the track 'intro' on the 1981 gig is credited as a Roger composition.....anyone know exactly what this intro entails? (as I don't have that bootleg).

Cheers

If I remember correctly, that Intro is the same as was on Rock Montreal (thunderbolt).

They will probably charge us for the thunderbolt mp3 download.

I don't get the vitriol here. I get some fashion of disappointment. But in all honesty I think leaks and speculation always hype people up for massive disappointment.

And I'm not immune. I was hoping for more also BUT let's look at this:

There has been a call for an official release to the BBC sessions. So what if they had just said Queen at the BBC was being released and we got a 2 CD set of the sessions. It would have been for the most part approved.

Some people would have wanted more.

SO they try to create a product of greater value. Did they fall short in a strange fashion? Absolutely. But I never thought we'd get Golders Green at all so even in an only mostly complete version that's something.

I truly wonder if all that was leaked was a 2 CD version. Without whispers of a 6CD version. Then this was announced - I bet it would have been better received. Yes there would still be some complaints but a big difference I would think.

I'm not saying the complaints aren't valid at this point. I wanted complete Golders Green. I would much rather have had just the 3 concerts without any of the the interviews or had the interviews as a downloadable extra or whatever.

BUT we should really look at it this way as well. Isn't this at least a step towards the type of release we want? It's no Rainbow, but it's better than Odeon. It's also FAR better than ANOTHER compilation like Forever or GH re-re-re-re-re-re-re-release. But I tell you it seems that we have people on our side in the QPL team who are fighting against some unknown wall to get solid material...I feel grateful for the attempts and surely don't want to discourage the effort.

Imagine you have a product in your head for release and you say
"We can release the BBC Sessions, and Golders Green, Morumbai, and Mannheim! And some interviews afterwards as well." Then they come back and for whatever reason they say nah - flooding the market with Magic Tour releases (:-P), and Morumbai isn't quite a performance I'm glad with and Golders Green has some issues with a few of the ending tracks I can't fix up to speed (OR WHATEVER THEIR STRANGE REASONING IS)"

So then what do you do? You fight for the sessions and perhaps at least some of the concert tracks and maybe additional interviews.

Now you get this response. They can't say they agree with you but they do....but do they feel like trying to fight for more positive releases or is it just not worth the effort when everyone is going to slag it off anyways...

So be disappointed sure, but let's at least say this is better than many recent release....

what great highlight...
no Somebody To Love, no Rhapsody, no Champions, but I'm In Love With My Car, Hello Mary Lou and God Save The Queen

in the highlights there are:
5,5 songs written by Freddie (Ogre battle, Liar, Let Me Entertain You, Love Of My Life and Crazy Little Thing and Is This The World..)
2 by Roger (Car and Magic)
0 by John
7,5 by Brian (Procession, Father To Son, Son And Daughter, We Will Rock You (Fast), Dragon Attack, Now I’m Here, Is This The World We Created and God Save The Queen)

the most random release we've seen in a while

They had the perfect opportunity to release in full those 3 concerts and they blew it...
I can smell releases for those concerts...

Perhaps the mega-rare item that nobody know about was 'Alright Alright'?. As someone else said, another Lost Opportunity and we, the Losers in the End.

'Alright Alright' is the vocal interaction in the middle of Now I'm Here.
