Still not seen 'Queen an Mike Read' pic, anyone?

I would sincerely wish for people to get the 2 disc or LP version as the additional DJ comments, editing, and general tomfuckery on the 6 disc version renders the set nearly worthless. A mess. The 2 disc version is a joy. Compact and to the point.

Some of us actually appreciate the fact that those DJ comments have been included.
Nowt wrong with folks buying the 2 disc set as well though - at least QPL have given us a CHOICE....

I just wish it had been in a jewel case instead of using shitty digipcks again. Bloody hate those.

I appreciate what they've TRIED to do but it's just a mess.

I have to agree, the 2 CD set is fine though.

Obviously your work contains "details that could not be disclosed", but the reality is that nobody wants something else from you. Who needs fucking generic comments from Queen archivist, gardener or driver? I guess it's part of the job description to enthusiastically support any past, present, future or potential action of your employer.

Some higher education could have been useful though, to express these nice and biased thoughts in a more articulate way. I bet Jim Beach didn't expect you will escape from the vault and go public, when he picked you. Otherwise he had to make a better choice.

The only correct response to this thread is, I think we might have overestimated this release.

I'm still trying to comprehend Greg's original post. I appreciate him posting on here, but his general attitude in the initial thread starter sums up everything that's wrong with QP.

"Let's give them a half-baked product that we can put together without any great work, as we know people will buy it regardless..."

Sorry, Greg, but there's only two Queen/related releases worth having since 1995: the Freddie boxset and Rainbow.

Does that not leave you even the slightest bit embarrassed?

I have yet to see you happy or excited about anything I think.

Do you follow me about then?
The basic release is pretty good, it's the collectors edition I find underwhelming.

Well I've listened to the first 2 discs of the 6CD version and I seriously don't understand all the positive comments. The only interesting things are the comments between songs, and even they are for some reason in bad quality and heavily edited - the season 5 chatter for example is longer. Sound quality is nothing special, it's on par with the circulating recordings, I would even say session 3 and some tracks on sessions 2 and 4 sound worse than the unofficial versions. And I still hate the packaging.

To re-iterate.
The in between banter was lifted from Brian's home recordings of the sessions, hence the "bad quality".

Errr, what versions of sessions 2 and 4 do you have ? The official release blows away anything I'd heard.
