Im getting frustrated if I see that face of Mooghead...

It was a great documentary, but, as others have pointed out, frustrating. Especially at the beginning, where Brian and Roger are talking over bits you just want watch without extraneous audio, such as when Freddie is playing Brian's guitar. Thankfully there are sequences that they allow to roll along as they were filmed, but you've always got this feeling that it's going to get cut off just as it gets interesting.
Some of my favorite bits were the backstage stuff, right after the show. Terrific. The live bits were great, but that's it.. they were bits! There seems to be no reason why there isn't live footage of FULL songs on the box...so incredibly annoying. The footage is there! The stuff we've been waiting for, begging for...and they give you 10 seconds of it when they must have song after song filmed. It's not just frustrating, it's infuriating.
Still, it's great that we at least get what we've got. Very curious to see how this differs from what's on the boxset DVD.

The new Houston footages alone sold me to it. All in all, I fricking like it!
btw, the whistle bit, anyone know what part of the concert was this taken? this one's completely new to me

I think the whistle bit is just before Freddie's intro to White Man. On some sources of the Houston concert you can hear the sound of Freddie's Whitley before it cuts straight to his White Man intro (play from 0:08, you'll hear the whistle as the image fades away: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aNitPaiQAs&feature=share

Why didn't i notice that before? I thought that whistle was some kind of feedback before. Thanks!
Also, I noticed they really got some mileage out of the Rhys Thomas interviews for much of the voiceovers, all while bringing something new at the same time. I like that

I'm actually excited seeing an extended take of the band, mainly Freddie, mixing WATC --- only to have the doc bookend with AL singing it wtf

We get it Anton, you have a massive hate-on for Adam. Go find something else to bitch about a million times over.

Is that the same whistle as right at the end of the Get Down Make Love improvisation part on Live Killers?

No multitracks=no autotuning and altering the sound. They seem to think that if they can't make everything sound perfect and fake it shouldn't be released.

I agree with you mooghead. To be annoyed about this is quite destructive if we want more releases like this. I loved the documentary. But I wish they could have stuck in some extras for the box set release. Wouldnt be much work to assemble the complete individual interviews or something. But I guess someone would complain no matter what they put in there.
So you agree that we shouldn't criticise, while criticising?
There is a difference. I wish we got the complete interviews, but I still loved the documentary and very glad that we got it. It is not all black and white you know.
Did I really hear Bob Harris say at the beginning they restored the footage. Well if this is the result they should really shame their asses of. CHIEF COME IN PLEASE!!
Best bit: After mixing WATC john is heard from the back of the room 'More bass!'
Oh, and Roger's face during the It's Late BVs.

It's so ridiculous that the free TV broadcast is in HD whereas buyers of the super expensive box set only get a NTSC DVD...

On the upside, you get to buy NOTW twice again!
