Can anybody explain why some of the interviews change from B/W, bad coulour to excellent even if it seems to be recorded on the same day with the same crew?
Basically blind em and deaf em in the first 10 minutes, and while they are recovering from that put in the less good songs

At the Freddie bash, Simon spoke about the differing in quality - he just said it's what they had to deal with. I'm also puzzled as to why different parts of the same interview are in colour then black and white....but i'm not an expert on what damage can be done to film over time if not kept properly or what sources they had available.

Simon was also asked about extra stuff...and he seemed to say there's really not much more left. But as others have said...it seems bizarre as certain things get cut when they're getting interesting etc. My only answer to that is potentially parts of the documentary were already edited 40 years ago and the rest discarded...but i dunno, most probably Simon underestimates how much a few minutes extra of Freddie rehearsing etc. would mean to fans.

Very strange Simon Lupton seems to say there's not much left as Rhys Thomas told there was like 7 hours of raw material shot.
It seems due to expensive cost and budget they tranffered the damaged compiled/ montaged reel that was intended to be released ( and shelved) at the time to digital format and not the fragile mastertape reels.

I think it's simply stuff that was put on the original cut: available in good quality, discarded stuff later used in this: taken from a B&W safety copy

Did I really hear Bob Harris say at the beginning they restored the footage. Well if this is the result they should really shame their asses of. CHIEF COME IN PLEASE!!
So you saw the footage pre restoration?

Don't be a smart ass... you know what I mean. Look at the coloured lines, flickering, grainy lines etc. We can discuss about what the term 'restoration' means of course in the words of Harris.

Take a look at the work of Chief Mouse considering QP has the money, time and people who can do this.

Turds! I missed it. And there's no uploads anywhere as far as I can see. No one recorded it?

I'm not being a smart arse at all. Restoration is not about trying to achieve perfection, and it does not start at the post transfer stage.

It's baffling that there's footage from that US tour on Days of Our Lives documentary which they didn't include for this documentary. Some of it is looking better and/or has colour as opposed to the footage in this documentary. They really are clueless.

A great documentary, really enjoyed every moment, slightly puzzled as to what will differ from the DVD given it has a different title yet must be basically the same... we shall see???
however loved the whole thing,

If you add all these facts above then it really shows how much better it could have been done. Going to the original mastertapes and carefully restoring it with the best possible outcome (I'm sure QPL has the means and budget) would justify the overall cost of the box-set.

Even professional journalists are pointing out what's wrong with this documentary, some of their views are very similar to those expressed here.
Though it is a harsh example, here is a good review but basically slagging off the documentary:
Harris’s one sharp question invited the four of them to talk about the sort of albums they might make as soloists. “Oh I’d make a lot of money!” said Freddie. His memory is still making lots of money for half of Queen, who have turned into their own grizzled tribute band. The vocals are performed by a howling pink-haired avatar in a coronet.
Savage but I concur!
