Unbelievable:

"" Look at this set list ! I think I have some learning to do !! Ha ha ! Yes - thank you - I am reliably informed that IR KITI HITAI is not a song I had forgotten, but means "and other hits" !!! So I may be OK. Our problem, of course, in the live situation is that we have Too Many Hits. This is an expression borrowed from the wonderful and sadly missed Artist who was once, formerly, known as Prince. It's a wonderful problem to have, but it does mean that we have to leave a lot of material out that people might want to hear. Still ... all opinion seems to be that this is the best production we've ever taken on tour - so all in all I am happy. "" source: brianmay.com

What a noob. Did he forgot all the other years with Glambert were one big Greatest Hits compilation and they play 90 % of these songs for over 5 years now. What about 40th anniversary of NOTW??

Brian could also be talking about the stage design, Lights and visuals as well when he talks about the production. Musically yes you are right - it is the greatest hits tour and for me that is another factor in not going to see this version of Queen live. I would have liked to have seen them with Freddie do more obscure album tracks, but alas, it wasnt to be.

It just seems so uninspired, IMO.

Having seen Prince 13 times, I can safely say that on his Welcome 2.... (America, Australia etc) Tours and his final Piano & A Microphone tour; Prince ran through DOZENS of songs.

Opening night of 2009 he had 5 encores and closed with a cover of Roxy Music's "More than this"

He would also on his Welcome 2 tour do a dj-ish sampler set of about 16-20 songs of his and do a minute or two of each.

The man was a mf' ing party onstage. But he could be brooding as well.

I've never seen QUEEN do anything that risky/colorful.

It's shameful they dropped the NOTW numbers.

Also: PRINCE returned to his name PRINCE in 2001 at the conclusion of his Warner terms.

A 5 year "protest" of sorts. He'd been Prince for over a decade again.

Poor Brian.

I wonder what the real story is.

Is it "damage control" cause so many loser glambert fans and their mothers don't know the material? Or is it because someone doesn't enjoy performing them?

Sounds like he and Rog are surrounded by a bunch of sycophantic twats that cocoon them from so much of what is real, other than badgers, foxes, tattoos and holidays in Ibiza. The shame is that they are still playing so well.

It’s not only inspired; it’s magnificent! Have any of you Debbie Downers been to a live performance? I get a kick just from listening to the excited response of the audience when they first see Frank breaking down the wall and peering over it about to snatch Roger away from the drum set with his boney hand! In Lithiuania they were screaming almost the whole time.

SweetCaroline, you are entitled to you opinion as we all are. However, my views are tempered by a connection with their music spanning over 43 years. Like others of that era, we see the creative potential of this tour through different eyes.

Seeing Queen+AL for more than 6 times over the last years and Queen+ PR 8 times I think I know what I ‘m talking about . Reading your posts over the last few weeks, I guess any critical opinion or view about Queen+AL is forbidden!! Fits perfectly to a 15 or 16 year old kid.

The production, stage, lights and show itself is great. No bad words about that. But that setlist.....

Translation: "we've got a load of hits, we've been playing the same ones for decades, so why would we bother rehearsing for days on end when we can charge big money just to show you some new lights."

Granted, the visuals of the 2017 tours look fab. But they've only had the dreadful ones from the 2008 and 2015 shows to beat. It's not hard.

The screen film for '39 in 2015 looks like it was done by some 13-year-old school kid. Awful.

I have thought for a very long time how much Brian and Roger are out of touch with their fans i.e living in a bubble. It's Hilarious when Brian goes on about being dangerous and taking chances on stage then appearing on the night from dry ice with the same old shit greatest hits ha

It must all be very boring at times for Brian's GFG (gift from God) AL , it's as if they are terrified to try something fresh and new I'm baffled why they brush over the Innuendo and Miracle albums as if they never existed. As Freddie said to Peter Freestone if it was not for fans he/they wouldn't have the huge house and wealth etc .

I find these criticisms of not only Adam but Brian and Roger totally unbearable and unfounded! They are limited in a 2-hour timeframe of the songs they can perform. Over the 5 years that QAL has been together they have changed up their opening numbers from Now I’m Here to One Vision to Hammer To Fall and added many other songs such as the Seven Seas Of Rhye, in The Lap Of The Gods, ‘39, Days Of Our Lives, Save Me, The Show Must Go On none of which are in the current show. They have added Bicycle Race, I’m In Love With My Car and Get Down Make Love! Would you all feel better if they had kept It’s Late and Spread Your Wings in the Set List? They were well done but what they do is so good that “it really doesn’t matter!”

What you seem unable to even try to understand, sweetcaroline, it matters to some of us. It doesn't matter to you because you aren't a Queen fan, you are a AL fan only and obviously.
Personally, I would love it if IL and SYW stayed in the set list. Funny there is room enough for AL solo songs, but nothing that digs all that deep in the Queen catalogue.

I completely understand. We "die-hard" fans get tired of the same old songs every tour. We also realize that May and Taylor could have chosen a singer who is a better "fit" for the band. However, I do realize that: 1) Lambert is a popular, "known" singer, who can help pull in the crowds, and 2) Most people go to "Queen +" concerts to hear the hits. So, it is what it is. We don't have to attend if we don't want to.

Good post, Michael! Oh dear I have forgotten that they have also performed a rockin’ version of “Dragon Attack!”

You have to forgive icy. She never became a Queen fan until after Freddie passed away and she became a fan of the Freddie tribute show, while I, Who she considers a non-Queen fan, had seen Freddie performing live while watching the whole Live Aid Show with my kids on TV in the ‘80’s!
