Vocal Harmony, since 79/80 do you write, do you mean the Live Killers album? Was it Brian who felt that the album needed several overdubs from other concerts? Or was it a decision by the band itself?
In 2011, the CDs were re-released. Hot Space extra edition was without the official extended versions. I have always understood that this was a solo decision by Roger not to release these versions. Or am I mistaken now?

From the Queen Convention FB Page:
“Hello Fellow Fans.
There is good news from the archive…
Everyone within the Queen camp is in great spirits at the moment, and in exceptionally fine form I might add. We are busy with a hundred things, as normal, and the movie has been a fascinating and unusual tangent for us. As you know, the band is right now performing again, in the U.S., as popular as ever they were, and in demand wherever they go. The Queen machine rolls relentlessly on and still shows no signs at all of faltering - or even slowing a fraction!! Quite incredible after nearly 50 years!
With everyone is such good spirits, it’s great to be able to tell you that the band and Jim Beach have given their permission for me to pick up the Queen rarities baton again for this year’s convention and play you some wonderful never heard before things. You may recall that we regrettably had to drop the rarities baton a few years ago because of a few inconsiderate (some might say selfish) people at the convention who recorded the audio from my stage presentation and offered it on the internet as if it were their property to play with !! This offended the band, as you might imagine - and also upset Jacky, Jim Jenkins and myself, because we pleaded for everyone to be respectful. And so it had to stop.
So… with their blessing… I am going to play some original studio out-takes from the 1978 Jazz sessions in France, which no-one’s heard before. Jazz is 40 years old this year of course. There are some wonderful things which I’m sure you will love. Also, the band has ok’d me playing a very special item from the brand new Bo Rhap movie soundtrack. Again, this is previously unheard and our convention will be its premiere. Pretty exciting, I think, and an unexpected surprise.
It must be added, that anyone caught recording any part of the programme will be ‘disappeared’ from their caravan or chalet in the dead of the night, never to be heard of again !!
I’m looking forward to playing these rare recordings for you, so make sure you choose the sweetest position in the hall, right between the speakers. It’ll be on a 'First come, First Jazz’d' basis!!!
Regards
GB”
So... what about the rest of us who can’t afford trips like this? :/

yeah ... it´s ridiculous. The sad thing is that at least half of the people attending the event don´t give a shit about the stuff and spent most part of the time talking while these gems are played.
I´d like them to explain the logic behind this. It´s OK for some lucky ones to show them these rarities for free, but it´s not ok to show them for, I´d say, thousand of fans around the world willing to pay for it, even on digital form.
Pretty weird, for a "dangerous" band like Queen.

Maybe they plan to share it officially after the convention.

Past experience suggests otherwise.

GB played "Jealousy" backing track and "Let Me Entertain You" alternate mix over ten years ago; these never made it to the "Jazz" 2011 remaster bonus tracks disc or any other release. This could have been the year and apparently there are no plans to revisit "Jazz" for the time being. Still, they are going through the trouble of bringing new material for a one-time casual session for the non-hardcore fans, who were going to attend regardless. What their actual endgame is, we might never know.
Still waiting for "Silver Salmon" nearly 20 years later...

....so that your covert microphones can pick up the best balance of sound for uploading to whichever file-sharing platform you choose to use.
Wanker.
What does he think is going to happen now that live shows are filmed on mobile phones and shared left, right and centre with little interference?

I agree with Chin.. I’m in the US and I would love to be able to go over to the convention and have a listen to these track but tough shit I can’t! But it is bullshit that they play these track for people who don’t even care! I might sound like a baby but it’s true and not fair for the die hard fans who can’t attend

I agree with Valis.
It was horrible listening Dog with a Bone and the audience talking....is like, WTF! you are listening
unpublished things and you are talking?

"a few inconsiderate (some might say selfish) people"
Aren't the people who are being selfish the ones who possess a gold mine of never-before-heard recordings and choose to keep them locked tight for themselves, rather than share them with the rest of the world (a great number of whom would pay good money to hear them)?

Personally i feel the whole collecting unreleased material is very much on dodgy ground, it's wonderful to hear it, but those that 'somehow' got hold of material not for release do have to be honest with themselves and realise they are dealing in stolen property... simple
I wish the band would just release evenything possible and make some of those collections worthless, I understand teh desire to collect and I certainly realise there's a thrill in hearing and owning stuff others don't have, but in the end I tend to side with the artist, if they didn't want it out there I'm cool with that, it's their right
