'Some' bits of DSMN sound OK - But why do that to it now we have the proper' 'guitar version?

I find the Smile track is very jarring. Almost unlistenable. This is why people stick to bootlegs.

Somebody on the Steve Hoffman forum states that GB confirmed (at the convention) that there would be a 'Live Killers' release next year. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere here but can anyone confirm this statement?

I can only hope that the version of FBG here points to the fact they've been looking through the Europe '79 tapes. I can imagine this would be an additional track on that.

I can honestly say I've never noticed the piano note at the start of STL.

So some good has come from this.

it´s time to release that most wanted Live Killers boxset !

ps: quite disappointed with the Smile track

Fat Bottomed Girls is great! I never prefer live over studio, but it's quite honestly the most interesting track in this release. Hopefully they're going to make a good live album next year.

Doing All Right (revisited): we knew it was going to be a Frankensteinian version. I like the new parts but I really do not understand what they did here. It's like they didn't even try to re-record it completely. Lost opportunity.

Don't Stop Me Now (revisited): not bad, the more subtle guitar and new drums make a decent new version. It's just not above the original and it's not as unusual as the long lost guitar version.

The Fox fanfare is fun!

There's more to the CD, but that's about it with the actual new stuff...

The ending to WATC is dreadful.
Not the first time Queen have officially put out a live track and chopped the end off instead of fading it out.

Yeah I cen imagine the freeze frame fading out on that point. Emotional, man.

Same with the echoed out last bit on DSMN. Works well on film I'm sure. To listen to in the car: nah.

I'm sure they could've found a live version of WWRY for the Movie Mix where Freddie's teeth didn't get in the way. Unless that's plot point.

I like that the edit of IWTBF can be described as a shorted version of the longer single version.

Boy, there is some awful editing going on on this disc. It's not as bad as TMBMTLTT from Forever, but Doing All Right is a hack job... Shame.

It’s so puzzling - they used to produce their own music, and theoretically they know what a good mix sounds like. Is it that they haven’t adapted well to working digitally? Or do they just not care, and let Justin Shirley Smith do the legwork (my guess).
