What do you mean "source?", Golden Salmon?
The source is me. I was there.

My view is if you really want to hear this stuff, go to the convention...that's kind of the point of it, if it all gets shared here it makes the event less relevant. I apprieciate that not everyone around the world can get there, but a good number of folk do seem to travel long distances to get there

^I don't think it makes much sense to play these jewels at conventions or charity events and never, ever release them afterwards. I mean, they keep letting us know they exist, they keep on including a few of these in dribs and drabs on new albums, but they seemingly expect fans to wait decades for a handful of rare recordings in yet another new-old compilation.

I'm sure it's mostly Brian and Roger who don't care about less polished material seeing the light of day, but the way their legacy is handled is frustrating to say the least. Most other big bands have had actual box sets compiled and released over the last 20-30 years, regardless of how many members are still alive or active. Freddie has had a box set released and apparently the plan was to do Queen sets afterwards but they instead turned their attention to the musical and Paul Rodgers.

Someone did ask what the point was in archiving everything and what plans did QPL have and the answer was still some kind of release at some point.
Apparantly it took them 8 months to do the demos disc on the NOTW boxset.
The problem seems to be that even after 18 years of being Archivist, GB hasn't done detailed reports on each tape, so when they get pulled out to look at for possible transfer, that tape still needs to be listened to, one track at a time and notes made for content!

We'll be here til next bloody centuary at this rate.

So, basically what you are saying s that GB is incompetent? ;)
If so, then they should appoint someone else or maybe an extra person for the job. Rhys has done a great job with the video end of things with DOOL and TGP. Maybe he should have a shot at it...as a true fan. :D

And if QPL are being difficult and GB is doing the best he can to his powers...then we just have to wait till BHM is gone and maybe RMT, till we get the PRIZE. JRD probably doesn't give a fuck unless he gets his hard-earned dinero.
We love you Mandy!

Mustapha and Dead On Time instrumental mixes might have been interesting.

What was the point of BR, FBG and Jelousy were these alternate takes or mixes of just tracks lifted from the album because GB likes them

I used to be on the side of cutting him some slack because of the perceived amount of work he was doing. But incompetents is what I'm thinking more and more. There are people on this forum (not me) who could do a better job than him

Nope - he's extremely competent.

He works slowly because that's how he keeps his job. If he does his job quickly and efficiently, there will be no more work to do.

Not rendering oneself redundant or unnecessary is a very common and corporate way of doing things.

I don't think Greg Brooks is to blame, he probably wants to see a lot of the things he's heard included on an album. And if they don't hire additional staff for that purpose (other than incidentally for every upcoming release), it's because someone else up in the organization doesn't care for whatever reason we mortals won't get to know about. I suppose both Brian & Roger and the copyright holders aren't concerned at all on making such a product. So yeah, let's keep on waiting for the Anthologies...

Well, no.
He probably fulfilled the requirement of his job description to catalogue what was on every tape whilst constantly being pulled away to do other stuff.
Maybe they didn't want a detailed breakdown of each track - just wanting to know what was on the tapes, musically

I do have to say though, that it does sound like they need more staff on the job!

anthologies are for dead(in all aspects) bands...
Fuckers

Not true. They are for bands whose fans are interested in one and have been promised one :)

'Apparently it took them 8 months to do the demos disc on the NOTW boxset'

Sample:

'Hi Brian, did you get my message a month ago about the NOTW demos? Did you get a chance to have a listen? Cheers, G

'Hi G, sorry I did get the rapidshare link but it didn't work on my Nokia? B'

'Ah OK B that might mean the link has expired. I'll ask my mate who works in IT as it might be your browser cheers G'

'Hi again B sorry for the delay. Apparently you need to try on a PC as the files won't download on your Nokia'

'Hi Brian did you try the link on a PC?'

'Hi B did you try the link?'

'Hi G - Anita says rapidshare no longer works could you send it to me on an acetate?'

'Hi B - no problem. As I've already transferred the analogue tapes into cassette so making mp3s to put them on a minidisc and get put onto acetate for you. I'll look into it'

'Hi thanks for your message - I am currently on tour and will be back in 2 months. If it's urgent badger related stuff please write to Chris@badgerstrust.co.uk B'
