Much like Bowie's Station To Station having a HUGE deluxe box back in 2010 (his only one to get treatment THAT overblown) it was curious NOTW being the only Queen one having the same treatment. Apart from having 2 big songs on it and a cool cover as an actual record it didn't really capture the zeitgeist of when it was released. Odd.
Jazz maybe overlooked musically but the fan club are selling JAZZ merchandise at the moment so someone must love this album?
I thought it was Hot Space that many despised ?
Having released the biggest grossing music biopic of all time, a fan oriented release like a Jazz 40th anniversary with outtakes demos and a lot of work to do by Brian & Roger was not going happen. They were touring and promoting a movie. It´s easier to call a designer to make a new sixpence an a picturedisc, and a mug... and... nice stuff anyway.
Personally i love JAZZ and i remember when this album came out everyone was going wild about the "Grease" film that was out and Olivia newton John & John Travolta dominated the top 5.
The album that got me into Queen thanks to a school friend banging on and on about it to me.
I am forever grateful and the album holds a special place to myself.
Liked the Jazz album and Live Killers, just missed out on a ticket for Ally Pally in the days you had to q for tickets or send postal orders to Keith Prowse ticket agency ...lol happy days

Yeah those were the good old days when getting Queen tickets were very special. Harvey Goldsmith presents....... Queen !
I'm surprised they didn't so much celebrate the 40th anniversary of Don't Stop Me Now, but then again, they had a movie to make so go figure. I like to think their "Revisited" version in the soundtrack is as good as a 40th anniv tribute as any. Preferred that over the Long Lost Guitars version.
Re:

The Fan Club has sold all sorts of tat over the years - milking the cash cow is a speciality.
Christ knows where people get their disposable income from.....
I find myself listening to Jazz more than any of the other Queen albums I really do think it’s a great album! Although I do have to admit the only song from the album that I’m not a big fan of is Mustapha
I like the cover art for Jazz as it's a lot better than most of their albums. The songs I love are Fat Bottomed Girls and If You Can't Beat Them. The songs I like are all the songs on the album except Let Me Entertain You and More Of That Jazz. Some of the other songs I do like but include parts I don't. But really the first two I mentioned are the ones I listen to regularly. They are two rockers that MUST be performed at every Queen show.
The songs are good but wished the drum sound and mixing was better....Dead on Time has some fantastic guitar....I liked that they still rocked....wish they didn’t ruin More of that Jazz with the album samples at the end
Yeah i agree Rogers drum style is subdued on "Jazz" to the usual heavy cymbals he used on previous albums.
Best JAZZ tracks "If you cant beat them", "Dead on Time", "Mustapha"
"Jealousy", "Dont stop me now" "In only seven days" Worst track has to be "More of that jazz" it is so boring and lazy..

I'd add Bicycle Race and Leaving Home Ain't Easy to the good tracks list.
I'm not sure I'd agree with your comment that Roger's drumming is subdued on Jazz. I think it's the opposite and he's playing has a huge amount of ferocity. I think what's missing is his usual big sound and most of the drums suffer from bad recording or production.
VH Your comment there was a bit hypocritical first you say Rogers drumming has a huge amount of ferocity then you say his big sound and most of the drum work suffer from bad recording well i am sure Roy Thomas Baker who produced the album would disagree.
