Saw it on the big screen again (it was free) with producer and editor. ...it wasn't quite as awful as the first viewing and i believe the closeness of the audio (I'd first seen it in IMAX) made it substantially more "loud" and stacked sonically.

Aside from that. The criticisms still stand. It's an oversimplified piece of b.s. but it wasn't completely absurd this time ...maybe it's the lessening of anger.

:-/
p.s. i made out another bad joke at John's expense with this viewing

Dunno why they'd be comfortable taking the piss out of the guy that got them a break in the charts in USA.
oh well. It made them a gazillion dollars. I'll try to post the audio of the conversation afterward tomorrow if there isn't already a YT video by morning. There WAS a woman in the front row recording it all to her phone

But some people don't bother sharing that

Thanks, Matt Z. I’m looking forward to it. (Did it get put on Youtube?)

It’s now made just under $850 million folks - the thread title needs changing.

The amount of money this has made (and subsequently filled QP’s coffers to the brim) makes me hope the next few releases will really push the boat out.

I’m being naive I know :-)

This may be pathetic, but the reason I saw the movie (even with forewarning of glaring errors and chronological chaos) was to have a few more fleeting moments with Freddie...As flawed as they might be. Much like the devastated family member who wishes for a few more seconds with one who was loved, one last opportunity to say, "I love you." For some of us it's our chance to say goodbye . See you on the other side.

AHH friggin ell!..

I just reviewed it.. it's less than perfect, but its clear enough. Only problem is I'll have to bounce it over on a laptop or something because I can't interface anything at work. (restrictions) and my laptop is busted....Hmm.. I'll see if a friend can bounce it over for me. Its on an old fashioned large SDRAM card.

SOME insights...though no questions were permitted thanks to the controversy surrounding the director, I'm certain

Hmm. I'd like to think Innuendo and MIH as Freddie's last goodbye/s. His words, his thoughts, his voice etc.
The Freddie Tribute as well. I look at the biopic as more Hollywood than true, given that more than a few things were wrong in it.
I can see why some feel they can say goodbye to Freddie with the biopic. I can't.

Triumph over snobby film critics .....

OK, I am super late to the party, but I finally watched it. The credits just rolled and I can say that I enjoyed it. I am thrilled that Queen's Live Aid performance made it to a movie, it was the most authentic feeling part by far. I don't know why they gave the Oscar to Rami (I've got nothing against him, very much the contrary), but I'll agree that he did a great job all around and particularly around the ending.

Anyway, this is first and foremost a work of fiction - full-blown fiction in fact. I mean, this is super obvious, since before the movie released and I don't think they ever said differently. And considering they didn't even try to hide it, I really can't understand why any fan would be mad about it. It is NOT a documentary, therefore it's just a dramatization that's nowhere close to the real story we all know by heart. It is what it is, and it's the best we'll ever get in the foreseeable future.

The best thing about it though, it brings Queen to the masses once again, and to new audiences. It keeps the band even more relevant. I'm sure it'll have a positive effect on future releases for all fans.

The greatest disappointment? The fact that they used Martel so much and all of the fake Queen music throughout the first half of the film. They absolutely could have used outtakes and multitrack parts (they did with Bohemian Rhapsody), yet they didn't. Lazy effort on Queen Productions part, really the only thing I'd complain about but that's just me.

Oh, Brian and John were really cool to watch. They quite nailed them, all things considered.
