@SweetCaroline: Hello! I'm trying to be totally unbiased so forgive me if I come off rude. But I've been lurking a lot, and have tried to understand the anger you seem to generate. But statements like these:
"I don’t remember if the original Queen band ever performed at the Grammys, Oscars, etc."

After you take time to mention that:
"Adam’s wonderful performance at the Kennedy Center and the upcoming Elvis special has been very encouraging as well as the Wicked anniversary show."

To me, it seems like you're trying to imply that because Adam has performed at various TV specials and shows and what have you, that he somewhat elevates Queen's current status/right to being included in these shows.

If you were an Adam fan first and came to Queen because of him, thats fine and all it means is you found their music through a different means than most, but you gotta remember most people are here because of the original quartet and Freddie is held very close to people's hearts. Let Adam and Freddie's inputs to Brain/Roger be separate and remember Adam is truly, really, a means for them to be able to perform live and let people hear the music in person and he is definitely not to many people's tastes. I think people are put off by you because you try to make a lot of things about Adam in a forum thats mainly devoted to the actual "Queen" band and not "Queen +", especially in Adam's case; and you seem devoted to mainly discussing Adam. This is a Queen forum, not an Adam forum, and it may be wise to keep that in mind in future conversation. Freddie is very important to a lot of people here. Adam? Not so much...

Not disrespect to Adam or anybody here intended by the way.

Don't fall for it when sweetcaroline says she's a Freddie/Queen fan. She isn't. At most she is an AL fan only. You would not believe the amount of times she didn't know something about Freddie and Queen...in the next breath she can't help but to hype up Lambert. See above and many of her posts in the Q+AL section.
You nailed it in any case.

In music history Adam Lambert is nothing. Freddie Mercury's legacy as songwriter, singer and live performer sold the current biopic single handedly. The achievement is such a testament to the music and his abilities. Even with bad critics it outsold any biopic that has been ever made. Lambert on the other hand is just a singer without much else. There is nothing special about him at all. In my ears he sounds terrible as well. Let the guy dry up in is own boring solo career. The man makes a living out of Freddie's life.
Basically blind em and deaf em in the first 10 minutes, and while they are recovering from that put in the less good songs

@Another Roger
While I agree with you about Freddie and his legacy the rest of your comment is bollocks.

And regarding Caroline being a fan - I've no idea how much of a Queen fan she was/is but I don't think it's necessary to know all the minutiae about a band or anyone in it to be a fan. I know quite a bit about Queen since they always interested me but I'm a fan of plenty musicians/bands music without knowing hardly anything about them beyond who plays what in the band, nothing about their history or personal lives but still love their music and still consider myself a fan. I think there's a huge difference between loving someones music and being what you could call a "die hard fan" who needs to know every little detail about their icons.

Almost 100% agree with you except Lambert will likely have a career outside QAL, probably in musical theatre which is where his voice is best suited.

She isn't a Freddie and or Queen fan at all, I dare say. Its obvious she knows very little about pretty much most of it. Didn't even know what songs were on greatest hits, she thought Freddie wore the cape and crown at Live Aid, was horrified about Freddie on Superman's shoulders, that's just a couple of examples.
No one needs to know everything about Freddie or Queen, but it's like she can't even be bothered to look things up , and then goes on to praise AL. God forbid, if she thinks someone is wrong about AL or states something she don't like or agree with regarding AL.

I agree with you both. I can see Broadway, West End in his future, but I think that will depend on how his next solo music does.

Gee, I didn’t know IB/Icy was secretly living in my house back in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s when we were watching Queen on TV. Yes, I mixed up their Live Aid performance with the one in Wembley the following year, but IB didn’t know they existed until the Fredfie Tribute in 1992. So how she is the expert about them is a mystery. I had some other things going on in my life until I retired and now have more time to follow what is current.

We are talking about the Oscars in this thread and about the current band possibly performing. That’s how Adam’s name was included. No need to get carried away over Freddie and Adam. Adam has been rejected by the American music industry just as much as Queen was back in the day. He is getting a little more recognition lately which is somewhat of a miracle. Just ignore the bait and switch from the icy Canadian.

You have only posted in this Queen section because AL had the cameo in the biopic, and you wanted that to be known.
Even when I told you in the Q+AL section of the board it would be unlikely for Q+AL to perform at the Oscars, that didn't stop you from posting about here in a Queen section.
You fool nobody, only yourself.
I didn't say I never knew Queen existed. I wasn't a fan before that, which you hold against me for some warped reason/s...I guess you think it makes you look better and me look bad. But I will tell you how petty you are about it, you are the only one who has ever tried to score points at me for becoming a Freddie/Queen fan in 1992...as if I was the only person who became a fan at that time. At least I'm honest about when I became a fan. At least I took and still take the time to learn about the band. The thing is about you, you are not a Freddie or Queen fan at all, not then and not now. Not ever. You can't even be honest about it. What matters to you is that AL, and only AL sings Queen and Freddie's songs. Because you want the praise for AL. I'd go as far as to say you have some resentment at long term Queen fans for admiring Freddie and Queen, and you want that for AL as well. You think AL should be instantly accepted no matter what he does, because he is the one singing the songs.
A newbie here has you pretty much figured out already. Congrats, sweetcaroline/CNB, you have managed to turn more than a few people away from supporting AL more than you will ever know. You are so heavy handed and defensive about the guy. Why, I'll never understand.
The success of Bohemian Rhapsody should tell you a few things, sweetcaroline, if you weren't so inside your AL bubble, you would realise that. You don't even have much to say about the biopic to begin with, not even with the recongistion it has received, not even after you said you saw the movie twice. Going by that alone, I'd say you aren't a Queen fan.
You don't follow what is current. Your whole MO online, especially on Queen boards is for and about AL, add in your bitterness about certain other artists...that's your MO. As well as trying to promote and defend him at the drop of a hat, and deflect on me every time you are called out, as you are trying to do here. Every. Single. Time.

Oh boo hoo, you still on about AL about being rejected? Get over it. That chip on your shoulders about things regarding his career...I don't even think he feels the way you do about it. He's moved on, can you?
You want others to ignore me, when you don't do it yourself, even though you said many times you would. Ironic that.
Icy Canadian you say, ok, let's go there shall we, says you, as you are the American who isn't so sweet after all, and is full of bitterness and bullshit.

Icy, why don’t you start a whole new forum called hateful posting about Sweet Caroline. All you post is negative responses to my posts. This is America, not Nazi Germany!

Here is another article about the subject of this thread:

You should start your own AL promontion and defense board.
More bullshit and more deflecting. What is with you and Hitler lately and Nazi's now? Man, you are on some sick, twisted kick saying I'm Hitler and now you bring Nazi's into it all? AL is Jewish, I'm sure he would be so proud *sarcasm* of you for your crap throwing about that. He would likely be horrified actually. So, just fucking stop with that once and for all, because when you do it, you make yourself look awful every time you bring that sort of shit up. Goes to show you vindictive you are about me.
Yep, you are posting things that we here already know Brian has already said about the Oscar's. His post was clear enough, but apparently not clear enough for you.

Stop picking on everything I post and I will stop calling you s dictator and a bully.

You post paragraphs and paragraphs about me and what I post but nothing original about the subject of the threads.

What you say about me, is far worse than anything I've said about you. You think you can excuse what you say about me, but you have crossed too many lines.Thats a fact. Someone your age really should know better, or at least try to be better. Not as if you are a preteen. I have come to know many people of many ages on the internet, even a 83 year old, but no one can top your emotions and behavior.
What do you offer here on QZ sweetcaroline? Praise, promontion and defense of everything to do with AL. Then you lash out when you can't get people to see things way you do. You want to do whatever you want otherwise you feel your rights and freedoms are being infringed...that's how seriously you want take things, even to compare me with Hitler who literally caused so many people to die do so horribly and you pretty much hate me...that's how messed up you think and feel about me. You have no shame or decency at all. I think Queen boards are not the right place for you at all.

You might want to think before you post. You have the gall to say some people are so called Queen fans, when you aren't a Queen fan yourself. You only started to post in this section because you wanted and needed it to be known about the cameo AL had in the biopic. You know, that AL guy you are so blindly obessed with. That's the most you ever had to say about the biopic. You don't discuss Queen at all. You have nothing of substance to add, even empty quote boxes, which must be in the dozens by now.
Say whatever you want about me, at least I have and can and use a mind of my own. You don't.

I've no doubt he'll do at least one role in musical theatre at some point in the future but go back to it as a permanent career no way it's far too restrictive, that's the main reason he left it in the first place, definitely not a good fit for him personality wise.
