hi All,
Just giving people a heads-up - i will be shutting down queenzone on 1 November.
A few reasons:
1. Don't have the time to maintain the site - can't be bothered with sorting out all the spammers, fixing things.
2. Cost - don't really want to spend any more money on the site (only about $50 per month, but all adds up)
3. Don't really have much passion for what remains of Queen anymore.
4. There are lots of avenues for conversation/downloading stuff/ etc now.
So - for those few people that still viisit, you can arrange an alternative venue.
I think the site started in about 1995 - so it has been going a while. i may put up the raw code/data somewhere if anyone ever wants to play with it. The discography by John S Stuart was good i thought.

Yeah, do that, pass it on rather than just close it down, the messageboard at least, couldn't tell you the last time I visited anywhere else on the site.

Why can't you let someone else take over the site?

Thanks, Richard. I enjoyed my 19+ years here. I will miss this place, but life goes on ...

As a frequent visitor to this site for many many years (and greatly appreciative of the site owners work and also the contributors) it would be a great shame to see QueenZone close down.
Maybe there is an opportunity for suitably qualified/visionary people to acquire ownership and rebuild/design this site.
If it is the site owners desire to close the site for good, then thank you for everything you have done over the past 25 years. For I personally have learnt so much about Queen and acquired terabytes of recordings from here, for which I'm eternally grateful.

Thanks Richard. Met loads of wonderful people here – Serry, Sir_GH, Penetration_Guru, Lisser, Dan C, Amanda J, Pim, Niek, Mr. Scully, Flashman, fatty, wstussyb, Freya, our dearly departed and sorely missed John S Stuart, and of course my old sparring partner iGSM, who I met many times in person and we are still very good friends to this day. (He even made the trek from Canada to Philly to watch me get married!) There are so many more people who are lost to the mists of time (certainly not Arlene R Weiss; I don’t think any of us from 2005 can forget her!) but I hope they’ll jump in and say their goodbyes. There are so many people in this community – back when it was a community instead of a breeding ground for trolls and bots – who have contributed so greatly to this place over the year; I know my book never would have happened without QZ.
Anyway, so long and thanks for all the fish, Richard. Thank you for at least 25 years of reading and chatting, a good eight years of which were nearly daily drop-ins. I won’t harbor on the bad sides of QZ; overall, it was mostly harmless.

What a bummer but i totally understand it.
I hope some can archive it at least.
I never got around to resaving CMatt's incredible mixes.
I've always loved the humor until it became a dustbin for bad ideas and wanking imbeciles spewing bile back n forth for a while.
So many good memories.
I feel like this deserves it's own documentary LOL
Guess I'll join that new club whenever i upgrade my phone, (*which may be never)
I'll get a pad or notebook.
thanks Richard, You've done an incredible service to gather folks from international zones together on the unique love for the band. It's only natural that life intervenes and the torch may need be picked up elsewhere.
I appreciate what you've done. I was a droll 15 year old most likely when i first found this spot
can't thank you enough.
I wonder what'll become of the Brian's Curse thread and the Random thread of randomness or whatever it was called

Richard, thank you so much for creating QueenZone and keeping the place going for so long. So much good came out of it, it outweighs all of the bad moments for sure. Its legacy is priceless.
Now, it's time to move on. Anyway the wind blows...
