Bohemian 553 shows why the decision has been made and perhaps is overdue. In Australia we could call whoever it is a complete wanker, but that is far, far too mild. Moreso, it is indicative of the fact that this person possesses nothing at all that might give one pleasure. As Roger once said, "Sod you!"

Now to more important matters, thank you Richard for all that you did. Was it All Worth It? Yes it was a worthwhile experience!

I can't say I did not see this coming but now it's very sad to say good bye. Thank you Richard for all the work, your patience and perseverance. Thank you for letting people use this site with hardly any intervention, so it was up to them to make it the great site it used to be and the not-so-great place it has become thanks to trolls and idiots. Somehow, Queenzone follows the path our favourite band took. Gone is the excitement and enthusiasm, a great, exciting band was replaced by a tedious, repetitive and boring musical act driven by the greed of two old guys who cannot let go. Actually, there is nothing much left to say.

I am thankful for all the great people I met on Queenzone who came into my real life and made it so much more exciting and funny. Lifelong friendships came from Queenzone which make my life richer to this day. I always enjoyed the specific Queenzone humour, we had so many laughs. We had Queenzone meetings and Queenzone parties after concerts and other events where we had the chance to meet people in person. Queenzone brought people together in a unique manner, there are still married Queenzone couples. We also lost people which are sorely missed: Jon Mills, John Stuart, and the wonderful Vinou.

I am thankful for the sharing community, the ftp site, torrents, the Queen hub. Sharing inofficial Queen material was a decades long passion for me. The sharing community was the greatest achievement of Queenzone, it was also the most international part of the website. We shared tons of stuff long before you could download everything from youtube or other places.

Now it's over but we all can use other outlets to keep in contact. The Queenzone group on facebook will not be closed for now unless Richard decides otherwise.
I do not want any google ads here.

Please don't let all of this Forum disappear hand it over to somebody else maybe,I know it has it's fault's but it's head and shoulders above the likes of the Official Queen Fan Club's site ,where there is no room for banter and just a load of deluded fan's who part with £25 for two poor quality magazine's a year.

Thanks Richard, despite the forum problems it had some good years.

Yesterday I was surprised by this announcement and I could only say that I would be sorry.
I want to say that for a long time I just read the topics on this forum until I registered and decided to take part in the discussions. More than three years have passed since then. Thanks to QZ my English has improved, at least I hope.
I know that there have been a lot of arguing, insults, trolls in the last year ... but I was hoping that it would pass and that better days would come for QZ. This place has existed for a long time, people from all parts of the world came, read topics, participated in discussions. It will really be a pity that it will no longer exist. But I understand the owner of the forum, especially about reasons 2 and 3. What annoyed me was that members of QZ opened topics with name "close QZ". True fans of Queen shouldn't want something like that.
I will miss QZ.

Thanks for your work, 25 years is a good run.

Thanks for all the (unselfish) work over the years !
There's some great discussions in older threads and it's a pity to see all this go.
Reasons 1,2,3 are fully understandable though...

I would also like to add my thanks to Richard for creating this site in the first place. Without it, I would never have heard so many bootlegs and so many studio outtakes. Some of the threads on here were great to read and very informative (John's threads, for instance) but then the lunatics started to take over and ruin it all. Years ago when I got access to the internet, this would one of the first site I would come to and check out what was happening in Queen world. Times have changed now.

Like Richard, I too have lost all interest in what is left of Queen these days and in fact the latest debacle of a release has been the first Queen related product I am totally not interested in. So thanks again Richard, its been a blast. And just think, you now have $50 worth of beer vouchers a month to enjoy :)

Frankly, a little surprised by your radical approach to this. Surely there must be other options like others have suggested? At the end of the day, it is your site and you can do whatever you want with it, but I am surprised you have carried on for so many years, put it in the public domain, many fans have clearly enjoyed at least some aspects of it and now, because you got tired with it, shut it down completely. No worries if that's' what you're going to do, but I think it should be pretty easy to sell it/pass it on to someone else. It's a shame, but good luck with everything of course.

I've gotta say. This is absolute truth.

QOL is a disaster whose moderation only permits sycophantic "truths" and adulation.
Not that they're undeserved, Only there's no real discourse there. I don't even bother

Please know, that if you decide to transition this or to crowd fund, etc, I'd be a willing donor of $-$ a month...as long as I'm employable.

I donate monthly to various causes which cost me more than that but are out of the realm of "Not for profit charities"

One being for a veterinarian who takes care of "non native " animals in CA on her own time. Animals that will not and i guess by law CANNOT be treated when found with injuries.

If there's ever a support measure taken up on this or ever a shared duties/moderator role taken up... I'm in on it.

We don't have much time left, do we?

I'm so sad...I wish this site could continue some way.
