'It doesn't need proving. There are books full of sayings and parables of the historical Jesus... which are quite different than the Jesus that the bible wants us to know. The "god made flesh" Jesus that Christianity has told us all about is quite different than the historical Jesus, the teacher who was just a regular ordinary guy.'

Have you got any titles you could share old bean?

Oh how I love a religious/theological arguement! :D

I'm sure Jesus was gay, he was surely happy most of the time. ;P

"I never could imagine that Guitar Hero was in fact Charles Baer, the new attention seeker. ;)"

I'll choose to ignore this one, as the fine fellow who posted this obviously didn't read anything else in this topic.

"Have you got any titles you could share old bean?"

I'm far from being old, my friend. :)

The only two books that really come to mind:

"The Dishonest Church" and "Why Christianity Must Change Or Die". The latter was written by a former Presbyterian minister, and I have completely forgotten who wrote the former. I'll post again when I track down the names of the authors.

There are also other gospels that do not exist in the bible, such as the "Q" Gospel, the and the Gospels of Mary and Thomas. These three books give a very different insight to early forms of religion and life in those times. There are also inch-thick books that analyze these three newly-found pieces of literature.

Me too, Shoujo. Me too... :)

"esp. living here in the bible belt... classic stephfordism.."

All note the irony of me using the word "amen" in reply to that.

But back to the original topic at hand...

I've been at ticketmaster.ca and I'm having issues with the different seating sections. Does anyone know the difference between "field seating" and "general admission" ?? And which is closer to the stage?

Furthermore, there are two types in the field category. Are the seats or the standing room closer to the stage? I would assume the standing room is, but the seating diagram is of little help, as it doesn't include all of these seating arrangements that were obviously made just for this event.

Any help is appreciated.

Actually, Trafficzombie, history is against you on that one. It's fairly well accepted that there was a charismatic rabbi around at the time who most believe to be the Jesus we're on about here, it's just the 'Son of God' or 'God made Flesh' thing we struggle with.
Hey Matt, yay on you. I wish more Christians were like you :-)

I'm not going to add any comment to this stupidity!

I once again found Guitar Hero very convincing (not that I needed to be convinced) on this subject, while I had the impression that someone else was happy to get off cheaply although his arguments and assertion of having the same expertise were completely torn to shreds.

"B. The Bible is the infallable Word of God. I believe every word in it."

When it comes to scientific claims, the Bible has the dumbest claims, with all due respect to Christians. The Bible claims that Earth has four ends and four corners. Nobody can ever think a ball or a cycle to have corners and ends! Only flat items can have corners and ends, and this is exactly what the bible is trying to express regarding the shape of the earth. The earth is not flat, as once thought and it has no corners or ends at all. If Magnetic Poles can be taken as ends or corners of earth, then this definitely opposed to the axis of rotation.

Isaiah 11:12
12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the FOUR CORNERS OF THE EARTH. (KJV)

"The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. (From the NIV Bible, Ecclesiastes 1:5)"

"that it might take the earth by the edges and shake the wicked out of it? (From the NIV Bible, Job 38:13)"

Do you still think GOD said all of this ?
that's enough about me, now, what do you think of me ?

Here's something that bothers me: Critics tend to attack the Bible for its scientific impossibilities, believing that something can only be true if science can prove it to be. And since there are so many scientific innaccuracies in the Bible, the whole thing must be false (or at least completely overblown in its importance).

But there are literally thousands of things in life, many that we encounter or experience everyday, that science cannot fully define or explain.

Yes, there are literal mistakes in the Bible. The Earth does not have four corners. But can we not glean some sort of existential truth from the Bible? Much of GH's argument does have its merits, but to completely disregard the Bible because it does not hold-up to 21st Century science is borderline short-sightedness.

(and no, I'm not accusing GH of doing that, just making a point)
