Why not go the CGI route? Lord knows that computer graphics have gotten to the point where lifelike humans can be animated with minimal difficulty.
Heck, I was thinking that a "Made in Heaven" video should be made with a CG Freddie. His spirit would sorta comes out of the statue in Montreau (sp?).

I positively adore and respect Jean Reno as a brilliant actor..my concern is he is a bit old for playing Freddie.
Reno was born July 30, 1948. Ironically he is a little younger than Freddie would be, if Freddie were still alive.
But to portray Freddie throughout Freddie's life, and Freddie passed at only 45, Reno is already almost 57 years old, a bit too old to portray Freddie.
Johnny Depp is good at becoming a totally different person.

Casting the appropriate actor is all that matters.
The film's Director and Producers would most likely dub in Freddie's actual vocals, as with alot of music artists film biographies.
Angela Bassett was perfect to portray Tina Turner in ''Whats Love Got To Do With It'', and is one of the finest current actresses today, but no way could she sing like or come close to the talent of Tina Turner, so they dubbed Tina's original recordings of her vocals.
Last year's ''Ray'' biography of Ray Charles, Jamie Fox was brilliant, but they dubbed in Ray Charles' original recordings of his vocals.
Alot of TV film bios of Elvis, especially the one with Kurt Russell, which was one of the better critically received film bios of Elvis, made years ago, they dubbed in original recordings of Elvis' vocals.
The main concern, is getting the actor who can properly convey Freddie's personality, charisma, what drove him artistically and personally, etc.
Sam Rockwell - excellent choice.How about David "Little Britain" Walliams? I know he's more comedian than actor but maybe that's what a Fred needs.The only negative for Walliams is that he seems quite tall.
I can't believe everyone has overlooked Jerry Seinfeld. They look very similar especially if Jerry grew a stache. The only problems I see is that Jerry may be a little too old at this point and that he is too deeply rooted in comedy to play the part.
But Jerry Seinfeld has no soul.

Well who on earth could play Brian May? eh? I couldnt think of anyone looks wise who could come close except for the man himself.

and lets face it we would all sit watching looking for mistakes!

dont know many actors, but Ive looked up photos of the ones mentioned on here, and personally cant
see anyone who could be Freddie, just imagine if they were fitted out with the false version of Freddies teeth, they would be 3 months trying to speak with them!

The duty of an actor is to practice and get all the affected ways of the caracter that he embody. Sometime, they're spending months to make it work. They even get the accent. The vocal are not a problem.Who would imagine watching a Freddie's bio movie without the original voice. A professionnal actor like Johnny Depp could do it. For the physical, just watch Benny & Joon and Donnie Brasco. And also Edward Scissorhands.
