I've been listening to most of the Freddie's interviews, audio and video ones, in all possible quality... and the thing is he NEVER said ANYTHING about Paul Rodgers, not even a WORD!

So Brian and Roger are now saying he was one of Freddie's "hero" and "all time best singer"... what do you have to say about this?
I have only one thing to say about this: if you were a historian, you'd be shot, and rightly so.

Interviews only present a very marginal, highly selective part of a person. In fact, there is more to be learned from what ISN'T said than from what IS.

Mercury's musical influences were undoubtedly more varied than he ever expressed in interviews (unless you wish to tell me only about a dozen musicians influenced the guy, in which case I'd send you to the funny farm straight away), thus your 'research' is of no value whatsoever.

I'd like to see you post something interesting, either here or on your self absorbed blog page. God, it'd be sweet.
Self absorbed? Duh - it's about me! Who else am I going to write about, you numpty?

It's so much fun having kenny8 for a fan.
I would guess Freddie said a lot of things to Brian, Roger, and John that were not captured on tape or video.

Yes, a lot in fact. Whenever they were asked about touring and/or Freddie's health between 1989 and 1991. It's not uncommon that people lie if it is better for themselves, their business or their friends. How much truth does a celebrity owe the public, anyway?

i can not understand how a honourable man and great singer like paul rodgers ( i have heared that he was even a hero for Freddie mercurie) can make music together with these....these LIARS!!
[QUOTENAME]Knute wrote: [/QUOTENAME]I laugh my ass off at these people who think they know Freddie's likes and dislikes because they never read it in a interview..LOL and then they have the gall to call lifetime friends of his(and members of their favorite band, supposedly)liars.

Never mind the fact that Freddie loathed interviews, was a very private person, and didn't grant many interviews.

What was Freddie's favorite cereal?
Oh gee, I guess he didn't eat cereal because I never read that he did in an interview.

The bottome line is that any aspiring British vocalist worth his salt in the early seventies would have acknowledged Paul as one of the best in the biz.

That's a fucking fact. Live with it.
Fantastic post. I also raise an eyebrow or two towards the self-proclaimed Freddie "experts" out there who have memorized his interviews and quotes from books.

Thats right,,, I remember that, Roger told me thats what Freddie said...
But that doesn't count, because Freddie didn't confirm it in an interview.

Hi,

Didn`t they? ... Well , if they never ever brought this up in the interviews & articles we've read , then Brian & Roger might have asked Paul to join them just because there was this special chemistry ,(they know & we know there will not be another singer who resembles "Freddie") and because they are at a new stage,Brian & Roger are two magnificent creative musicians who want to keep up rocking , and I'm glad they they are willing to try something different (in spite of the fact that many of us miss Freddie quite a lot).We can just take it or leave, that's all.
I do respect Brian & Roger's decisions & their freedom as musicians & artists to do what is best for them.
Regards,

Oh well never mind theCro, better luck next time eh?:P

Still stop living in the past...there are a lot of people who don't like the idea of Queen without Freddie, with the arguably most recognisable feature (voice duh) but Brian and Roger also contributed a HUGE amount to Queen, hell their most recognisable anthem is a Brian song! They've even been described as 'legendary' in the worlds of guitarists and drummers, still that's beside the point.
Anyway what I'm trying to say is that they are all very talented musicians in their own right, they both also have every right to use the name Queen in their music which if they want to continue making is just fine!
If you have such a problem with Q+PR I have a solution for you...1)don't go to their concerts
2)don't buy their new work!
There. Now that's sorted let's all go be happy nerds again. And to all those with anger-mangement issues just remember this: Don't act all hardcore over the keyboard, fighting online is just like racing in the Special Olympics...who can finish??
If they don't wanna live in the past then they should use a name created by them and not by a dead person. And change the logo on the drums, because that's from the past too.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.
As usual, I'm with Sebastian on this. If they wanted not to live in the past, they should've created a new name. To those who say that they did add PR to their name I say: for sake of accuracy, call it Half Queen + PR. It's either a new name or Half Queen + PR. Using Queen + PR is misleading.

Queen are Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John deacon.
Queen is Freddie,John,Brian, and Roger.
Paul R. is NOT a member of Queen and will never be.

That's why it's called "Queen plus Paul Rodgers"! duh!
Freddie: "Yes, we'll have a great big cock fly over the crowd!" Roadies: "Yeah! Great Idea!" Freddie: "And it will fly into a great big mouth with a moustache!"
