its like 1979/80/81 all over again isnt it?
first the start of an Iranian revolution, then the shooting in the streets, then the expelling of British diplomats followed by the obliguatory expelling of Iranian diplomats from Britain [the US diplomats will be next to get the heave ho by Mr Dinnerjacket].
all we need now is Kate Adie to set up a tent outside the Iranian Embassy in London...
isnt innuendo an italian suppository? im gonna ride the wild wind! its_a_hard_life wrote:you nutcase you rule! joxer replies: but in a nice way :-]

See that's what I don't get.  You're willing to write them all off as the same (when so many of them are peacefully protesting - and getting shot for it).  That's a tad dehumanising don't you think?
As long as you don't expect anyone to give a toss about your country the next time it's in trouble, then your stance is at least fair in that it's not hypocritical.

However, that attitude is at the center of what's wrong with the world today; you're part of the problem and you should realise this.  If everyone looked out for each other, instead of being "ME ME ME" the way you are, then I reckon at least some parts of the world would be a bit safer.
I highly doubt Canada will ever be in trouble Zebonka...if you know anything about us..we're the "peacekeepers". I don't support the war, or whats going on there. I don't know why your getting your nighty in such a knot over my opinion. The middle east has been at conflict longer than I've been alive. It's run by Ayatollahs and dominated by anit simitism. I'll bet you support Iran's right to having nuclear weapons too? If you had kids of your own...would you send your kids there to die?

Yeah, he's the one stirring things up over there... him and Ayatollah.

Jeez, if you really don't know much, perhaps you should leave the conversation.

Do you even know what it means microwave?? I'll cut down on the kool-aid as long as you agree to start cleaning your pipe more often and stop inhaling all that residue!

First off, I can't see how THIS THREAD should make anyone feel any better or any worse about the situation in Iran.  We are not going to solve the problem here on Queenzone.

But, I can't let you off the hook, Barbara, or should I say Barbama???
Barbara dished out this:

there was a a growing dissatisfaction with Ahmadinejad because of the bad state of the economy, infrastructure, health system and education system (although Iran is such a rich country). I think that most people in Iran did not even question the system, they just wanted to get rid of Ahmadinejad, who is an international embarrassment for the country.
Really, I thought only George Bush rigged elections.  How did this guy stay in power over there?  Bad "economy, infrastructure, health system and education system" has been going on for years there.  Prior to Ahmadjinejabba's rise to power, they had the same troubles they're having now, except they have become the most powerful country in that region due to their military might and progress in enriching Uranium.
As long as Bush was in office people had little chances to criticise Ahmadinejad because the country stood together against the war threat from America but now after President Obama offered a new dialogue people saw the chance to get out of the international isolation.
I knew George had to figure in there somewhere!!!!

So now President Obama has offered a new dialogue, huh?  Exactly what dialogue to you refer, Barbara?  Because eveything I've read shows Ahmadinejad just as critical of Obama as he was Bush.  If you've seen something different, please let us know your source.  You might have breaking news here!!
Now that the elections were so obviously rigged people get angry and it's well possible that they now question the system after the police has been shooting the people in the streets.
You watch far too much Fox News.
It takes a lot of courage to protest in the streets when you do not live in a country where your right to demonstrate is protected by the constitution.
I don't call that courage, I call that stupidity.  Can you name some "martyr" in the past that has protested an election in the streets of their country and was killed?  Just one.  Name one.
Many people will die and the outcome is totally unpredictable.
Ah, such is life.
I am sure you would not risk the dirt under your fingernails to make a change in this world. Yes, why should people fight for what they believe in? How stupid to risk something to gain abetter life! You, Sir, have the freedom you have because people fought for it and died for it before your time. You think you are so smart but you are even too stupid to read and understand a message or else you would not quote me and then switch the argument around. Suggestions and innuendoes is all you have to offer. I never claimed to know all the details of the situation in Iran- on the contrary. FYI we do not have Fox News here. My source is a friend who is professor of Middle Eastern Studies and lived in the Iran for 8 years but I am sure he knows nothing compared to you.

This was the last time I replied to one of your incredibly dumb posts.
I do not want any google ads here.

    You mean dehumanize???
I don't know what channels you watch, or what your media coverage is down under..... I have yet to see them peacefully protest.  Just ask Neda and the 19 others who have been killed or arrested during these protests. If they were so peacefully protesting...then why all the killing??

I don't watch 'channels', thanks.  They're frankly useless - over dinner, I saw more coverage on TV about products for the rich and famous than I did on Iran.

One thing that you have to understand is that this is how power-politics is played in this part of the world. The common man is used/abused by the politicians to get even with each other and to snatch power. Similar incidents of mass-protests all over South Asia. They only vary slightly from country to country, depending on the "cultural" differences and the strength of the democratic process.

For example, in my country it is very common for a small-time politician to round up people in his locality and motivate them to protest against total non-issues. These protests often turn into mobs that go on a rampage and destroy private and public property. Naturally the governing body of the locality would send the police to control the mob and the police may use force. As a result, some protesters are liable to get a broken arm or leg but the incident hardly ever snow-balls into something bigger.

In my country (India) these things never get so big as to make international news because the politicians involved are not of consequence; they just do it to get some sort of publicity. I'm sure something similar has happened in Iran as well, only on a larger scale. I'm not a supporter of Ahmednijad (IMO some of his coments are absolutely immature and barbaric for a President), but I can't imagine the other guy being much better.

For sure, the current situation in Iran has nothing to do with Israel or any other middle easter issue. This just a local issue; the other guy is just being a bad loser that's all. People are getting injured and some have lost their lives as well, but they can hardly be called martyrs or anything like that.

And she delivered... big time.

That's the problem in here sometimes...  especially with the "way to go, Barb!" Kool-Aid.  She didn't address most of the points mentioned and her source was a "friend".

Have you seen maybe FoxNews, CNN, or ABC today, Barb?
Thursday, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the declared winner in the disputed June 12 election, told President Obama to stop "interfering" in Iran's affairs, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

Barb's friend, the professor says:
President Obama offered a new dialogue people saw the chance to get out of the international isolation.
Hmmmmm......

So you and your friend were wrong.  The last time you replied to one of my stupid points was when you were preaching about how great Amnesty International was.  Where are they now, by the way?  Don't hear much out of them about Iran.

Everytime you respond, Barbara, you get all offended.  If you're gonna dish out your crap about things you barely know anything about, you're probably gonna find one (or maybe two) people here that aren't intimidated by you enough to say "Wait a minute, you're wrong."

By the way, I'm wrong quite a lot of the time.  Like thinking a reasonable dialogue with you is possible about a subject outside of Queen.  I guess I should drink the Kool Aid first next time, and say "Bingo!  Barb, you're spot on!"

Where did your friend, The Professor, get his degree from?  Gilligan's Island?
And what part of Iran did he live in?  UptisAss?

Oh fuck your rules...who died and made you Grace fucking Kelly?   And...Oh my God...Mr. "so does anyone else care about Iran" can't answer my question??   Maybe if you watched the news or read a newspaper you would know more about the the sickening bullshit going on over there.  Do you always ask questions with questions? Or better yet jump on the next boat or airplane and join a peace group, and go and fucking save Iran.

Hey look I totally don't drink that.  And also what is Kool-Aid.

No seriously, I'm not a member of that brigade.  I was actually a bit miffed with Barb's post because I started this thread expecting a semi-sane response from maybe a couple of people and instead got a bunch of horse shit from Mrs Pork Butt.       << That name is aimed at the loser up there, not Barb by the way.

In any event it's small chips.  I don't think a bunch of people on a forum can change anything and that's not why I made the fuckin' thread...
