For me it's a hard question...
It's not bad.
It's not very good.
But it is good in comparison with what is around now.
I liked Small, Warboys, Through The Night, Say It's Not True.
I just used to a blow from Queen, and this is a kind of nostalgia... I love that crazy '70, but the thing is that they will never be repeated again. It will never be like that again- the time has changed, the musicians has changed- everything did!
Probably it is good, in it's own way...

I think anyone who expected it to sound like Queen (of old) was always going to be disappointed.
Brian and Roger were 14 years older than when they last worked together (on a whole album of new material), and 40 years older than when they were in Smile. There is bound to be a massive change of approach in that time.
Throw in the new influence of a different collaborator and you will have something that will not sound like traditional Queen.

That's what I'm saying generally... Funny and sad:)

I love the album. It is a very good project, although I would have liked it to have Brian May singing a whole song lead.

Yes. I thought it was OK the first time I heard it and didnt put it on again for almost 6 months! But i have recently rediscovered it. Too bad I live in Florida and am only 14 or else I would have definitely gone to a QPR gig.

i don't lnow why the peoples stay saying craps about Q+Pr.. just because PR gone???? come on!

Hmm, I guess I'll be the first...
It sucked. If you want to compare it to a Foghat album, it might be OK. But greed insisted on it having the Queen name and being compared to Queen albums. And considering that you have a PHD in Astrophysics as one of the songwriters, how in the hell can the lyrics be so immature and shallow? Do none of these old farts have anything to say? Oh wait, I forgot about I Believe - nevermind. I prefer the "nothing to say" lyrics.
TCR is boring. Say what you want about any stage of Queen + Freddie, but they were never boring.

It didn't have the Queen name. It had the Queen + Paul Rodgers name. They put + Paul Rodgers in the name to show that it wasn't the Queen we know and love. I think it's safe to say it's better than Flash Gordon if you want to compare it to Queen albums, so it isn't the worst ;)
Also, since when were Queen good with lyrics? Have you read the lyrics to March of the Black Queen. It's one of the best Queen songs yet it has the dumbest nonsense called lyrics (although they fit into the song very well).
I respect your opinion. Everyone's tastes are different. I just can't resist an argument :P

First, the answer to your question, "yes".
I don't care what the album is called or who the musicians call themselves. The album stinks, no matter if Queen, or QPR, or Foghat, or 5ive, or 3 little shits in their garage made it. It is musically bad and very generic with no enthusiasm or real creativity.

[li]There is an absence of a true bass player on most of the songs. Couldn't they have hired someone????
[li]The lyrics are SO cheesy and weak and full of shitty cliches. How much songwriting did Brian and Roger contribute to this?
[li]For a guy (Brian) to have created some great hard rock songs and moments not just in their 70's heyday, but in recent years with solo stuff from Stone Cold Crazy, Now I'm here, Tie Your Mother Down, FBG, Dragon Attack, Hammer To Fall, Headlong, I Want It All, Business, Resurrection, etc etc, where in the HELL was the hard rock on this album? Warboys? PLEASE! That song sucked so much ass. Admit it, with its crappy hook 'Warboysss'...I actually laughed at it when I heard it. I almost took offense to it because as a servicemember in the military I almost felt like my deployment and my brothers' and sisters' fighting for what we believe is right (no pun) was shit on in that song. Just my opinion
[li]The art work and album cover? I laughed again at it
[li]C-lebrity as the only true single? So corny that Entertainment Tonight used it with altered lyrics
[li]Sampling your own song? Wow - an all time new low.
[li]Again the shitty lyrics...Surf's up, school's out! What the hell is that about? Call me? No, I will not.
[li]The only shining moment on the album was leaked out months before with Say It's Not True....sad
[li]If the album was SO good, where are the other singles? Where was the promotion? How did it sell? Probably not too well.
[li]Someone said it before - at best it was a good Bad Company album and the WORST 'Queen' album
[/listu]
That's just my opinion and I've said it once and I'll say it again, opinions are like ass holes...every one has one.
p.s. - what did you expect from this thread? All positive responses?
p.s.s. -Not trying to be an asshole, but this album was HORRENDOUS

I also think that it grows with that time.
For me, is much better than the first months I heard it.
It also has a great massive-audience-related tour.
Cheers,

I find it strange you attack them for writing crap lyrics. Queen has always had crappy lyrics so why are you guys so suprised?

I think it's safe to say the "massive audience" were there for nostalgia, not new material from "TCR"

Surprised?
How did Queen get away with "crappy" lyrics for so long, but not with "TCR"?
