TCR desperately misses a good bass player...even Danny Miranda would have added quite a bit to the songs. I don't think that the casual fan realizes what John Deacon added to the Queen sound. He is, IMO, one of hte best bass players in rock, he was a huge part of the "Queen" sound, and, without his bass lines, the majority of the record simply falls flat.

Indeed. I've said it before, but the nearest thing (to my ears anyway) to old-Queen on TCR was "Some Things That Glitter". I suppose it's a less textured and less passionate sounding version of something like "Save Me". And what was one of the big differences? The bass track!

Some Things That Glitter is by far my favorite on the album. And yes, I agree 100% about the bass on TCR and John. [/img]

1. Party/Khashoggi's Ship
2. Sweet Lady
5. Misfire
7. If You Can't Beat Them
12. All God's People
14. You Don't Fool Me

Interesting list for Queen's worst. The few tracks I highlighted are pretty strong tracks in my books.

I agree, all gods people, misfire, you don't fool me are good tunes in my book. Actually, party is the only song I don't like. Maybe sweet lady too.

You say Mike, that TCR makes Hot Space look brilliant. Well it always was![/img]
lol, well, I wouldn't say brilliant, but hot space definitely has it's moments.
I think Hot Space has some very good songs. Dancer, for one, is a very good song which I think should have been played live and I think Calling All Girls is great as well. Also, why does it seem like most here dislike or resent The Works? I find it one of their easiest albums to listen to. It also has great tunes an production. IMO
Hot Space and the Works are both awesome.
The Game is my least favorite.
Not counting Flash Gordon, A Kind of Magic is -by far- the album I listen to least, followed by The Miracle, Jazz and -for some reason- Innuendo. I know Innuendo is a great album I just don't enjoy the mood of it. AKOM I just can't stand, really.
"The Cosmos Rocks" is a very entertaining album for me to listen. It's got a great vibe to it and you can tell the guys poured their hearts in it... with mixed results, I guess, but I can certainly feel the chemistry between them.
When I listen to Cosmos Rockin' I don't imagine three 60 year olds sitting in a studio recording a song only because they have to. They really sound like they are having a great time and I love that song.
Still, WHY WOULDN'T THEY GET A BASS PLAYER???!!
Songs like Small, We Believe and Some Things That Glitter are aching to have a proper bassline and not just Brian or Roger plucking on the root note of each chord.
On the other hand, I think "Time to Shine" has a pretty neat bass line. Do you think Paul played that?
It could be more good if they had a bass player!
They should have teamed up with Jimmy Page and Jonh Paul Jones. Now That is something I would pay to go see! Q+LZ!!!! (Queen+Led Zeppelin). They could also calll the band "Half+Half". Cuz it would be half of each band![/img]

God knows Robert Plant won't do anything ;)
Oh god. I know! I heard that Zep are not going to tour under the name of Led Zeppelin which I think is the right choice and is what Q+PR should've done.
Led Zeppelin aren't doing anything, with or without Plant. They gave up.
I dont think that Zeppelin will ever exist without at least Plant. But I hate plant sometimes because he is stuck up his own ass so far!
Nah. I love hearing him do Led Zeppelin stuff but the unfortunate fact is, he's usually right in his reasons for not doing it.
The only thing Led Zeppelin have gotten wrong is not releasing the reunion on DVD. Regardless of what one thinks of it, they could make a penny or two. At least it's not the fuckin' Live Aid show.... fuck.
They should've put out bothe Earl's Court shows that were filmed (May 24+25) and the Knebworth shows in a box set together. I wish that Jimmy would understnad that we fans are fine if there are a few muted notes or vocal screw ups. Jimmy Page is the definition of perfectionist. I know this material is readily available to download, etc. But its great to have it official.[/img]
Indeed. More is always nice; but I'm thankful for the Zeppelin stuff that IS out there. It's a damn better job than what Queen has done so far. Instead of doing what Queen has done and releasing the same stale setlist time and again (and can you imagine how it'd be if they released Budapest as well!) the Led Zeppelin set covers most of their better songs over the whole of the time that the band existed.
More of the Knebworth show would be cool but I really think the best stuff is on the DVD anyway.
