Nothing deluxe about these, apart from the profits heading QP's way for more drivel.

In a strange way, it's comforting to know that Queen Productions can and will continue to completely fuck every release.
I think my world would be turned upside down if they started releasing anything of merit.

Brian just defends his team of people when you challenge him on the back catalogue abomination, so whilst he takes an interest nothing decent will be forthcoming.

I'm working on getting good quality UK first vinyl pressings at present, far more rewarding then awaiting QP's handling of new releases.

I'm still waiting when the final details are confirmed and have a little hope. So fingers crossed!  Otherwise:

QP; you got mud on your face, you big disgrace, somebody better put you back into your place!
and they are the Death on a Bunch of Legs!

Don't do that, don't quote Queen songs. :')

Whilst the instrumental and acapella versions of tracks will be nice to hear, my interpretation is that these are not genuine rarities.  I reckon they will not be actual mixes produced at the time in this format, but merely the original tracks with either the vocals or the instrument newly removed to suit filling space on the 'deluxe' editions.  In theory they could do this with the entire catalogue, and produce an intrumental or acapella version of every single track and market them as rarities, but they aren't 'unheard', 'rare' or 'unreleased' tracks like Hangman, Silver Salmon etc...

I suppose I may be pleasantly surprised when we hear these, but to me this is an absolute con again, and is a minimal amount of effort for the maximum gain for QPL.  They've already released an album of instrumental tracks - it's called the Karaoke album, and plenty more on The Eye (at least those were in some parts remixed), but if we get Seven Seas of Rhye just with vocals removed, and Bring Back That Leroy Brown with just all the instruments removed, this is just lazy, and also unecessary when there is so much other stuff worthy of a release before they start actually creating 'fake rarities' which have never existed until they decide to make them now!

To sell a CD with just 5 tracks is like selling a half empty bottle...it won't make customers happy.

Sadly Queen follow the regular business path. And that means making maximum profit out of minimal input and holding back as much as possible for future re-releases.

In the end it's all about money......

I completely agree, cmsdrums, and it makes me wonder... i could be completely wrong, but at least insofar as these early working second disc tracklists, it seems they are sticking closely to album track VERSIONS and previously released b-sides only.  that COULD mean that the more truly rare/unheard gems WILL be forthcoming in an eventual anthology.  why else wouldn't they have exhausted them in this perfect opportunity?

There is money to be made in new remasters of the back catalog, and they're throwing on a few semi-new bites so they sell decently.  If there is ever anything more to come from the archives (box set, anthology in volumes, etc) it will be after the 40th anniversary albums have had their time in the market, i believe...

Well, some instrumentals could be mixes from the original sessions. A lot of them in the KARAOKE HITS are. Some even have a slightly different instrumental backing - e.g. Spread Your Wings.

Anyway, the published detais ARE wrong. For some reason (probably to met some sort of deadline ;-), the Japanese uploaded preliminary details to the website.

With regards to Greatest Karaoke Hits, I thought they were just newly mixed from the multitracks. The original masters for Spread Your Wings were lost, so that explains the use of a different version, just like Coming Soon on The Game DVD-A.

I do find instrumental mixes interesting, but it's a shame that they're not adding things that we have never heard before.

I'd love a full disc of instrumentals and a capella's added as bonustracks to each album. But why bother, when you can just pull out some previously released shit/oddities and put it together on one disk.

I completely agree.
These deluxe Editions should be 3 disc sets: Album, Instrumentals & Surround mixes

In 2009/2010 Mike Oldfield released de luxe editions of his first 3 albums on 3 discs each:  2 Cds + 1 DVD
Each one has
- the original album
- the new remasters from the original tapes done by Mr. Oldfield himself
- additional previously unreleased material like for example the never used original pre-album  "Ommadawn" masters
- a 5.1 surround audio mix of the album plus video bonus like for example the never released BBC Tubular Bells live recording
- booklet with interesting information about the historical recording process for each album

Price: 15-20 euro per 3 disc box

If artists call something "de-luxe" and  release only an album plus some 5 tracks which can hardly be called a novelty, how can you call it? . Queen will look so cheap compared to other artists who have respect for their own catalogue and their fans and customers. If this is the 40 year anniversary "de luxe" edition it's just a slap into the fans' faces - we already bought everything and we get nothing.
I do not want any google ads here.
