Except that the Crown Jewels Promo "Keep Yourself Alive" CD single, which features the "Long Lost Re-Take" says this:
"Here is a collector's edition sampler of all versions, including the rediscovered original version, of Queen's first single 'Keep Yourself Alive.'"
On this CD, the LLRT is called: "Long Lost Original Version."
What I think happened is that "June 1975" is a mistake, and should read: "June 1972." Notice that "Mad The Swine," recorded during the Queen 1 sessions, is listed as "June 1972."
June through November of 1972 IS when the band was recording the first album.
There's no record apart from this possible-typo of June, 1975, seeing the band in any studio doing any recording. The SHA tour finished in May 1975 and they began recording Opera in August (through to November), 1975.
Is it *possible* the "Long Lost Re-Take" is from 1975? Yes. I just find, based on the evidence, that it is extremely unlikely and prior to this Deluxe Edition track listing, ALL evidence pointed to it being from 1972.
If the DE CD has detailed liner notes explaining when and where in June 1975 the LLRT was recorded, I'll re-evaluate my notes, but for now, I think it is a genuine mistake.

I personally am dissapointed with the bonus material. Of all the stuff that must be available, we aren't really getting anything we don't already have or have listened to.Unless you are just a casual fan, whom this release will be released for. I mean, we are getting ITLOTG from wembley. Why not from Hammersmith 75 at least, as they have use another track from that. If this is all we are to get then I may have bought my last Queen product:(
I saw Brian say in an interview recently that the Musical was about how the industry was all about money, and that letting people hear Rock music is what it should be about.
Well let us hear it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even Greg Brooks wouldn't allow a 1972 recording to appear on a 1975 album labeled as a 1975 recording. But I also can't imagine the band doing a remake of Keep Yourself Alive in 1975, just before commencing work on ANATO.

Another possibility is that the 1972 recording of the "Long Lost Re-Take" was planned as a 1975 single in the US (to capitalize on their growing success), but scrapped in favour of a re-issue of the standard US Single Edit. I don't have much to base this theory on except that "See What A Fool I've Been" is noted as "February 1974," which is the release date of "The Seven Seas Of Rhye" 7" single, not the recording date, which would be August of 1973. Also, the 1975 re-released KYA single was in July of that year. At a stretch, I'd say maybe the LLRT was planned for June, 1975, then that plan was cancelled and a month later (July) the original US Single Edit was re-issued.
I totally admit I'm grasping at straws in this post, but assuming "June 1975" is not the recording date, but is also not strictly incorrect (as it would be a serious boo-boo made by whoever is in charge of compiling these tracks), what other possibilities are there?
I still believe that "June 1975" does not represent the recording date, at least until more concrete evidence is provided. For now, in my opinion, all reliable evidence points to the LLRT coming from the 1972 Queen 1 sessions.

Well - it could have been worse, but it could have been a lot better too.
ps Hello Bohardy, nice to see your Mrs lets you on the web occasionally.

Is this the same "Long Lost Retake" of KYA that can be found on the 1991 Hollywood Records reissue here in the States?

Yes, dowens, that's the same track to which I'm referring.
It appears on the Hollywood Records 1991 re-issue (as "Long Lost Re-Take") and the Crown Jewels1998 Promo CD (as "Lost Lost Original Version").
