Looks really nice so far, but I'm afraid it'll probably be really expensive, and possibly hard to get hold of after the first few weeks...

Why would people be expecting individual packaging, when the only comparable product was also released without individual packaging?
Also, the packaging is the most expensive part of manufacturing this box set, and it IS a bit redundant when the potential buyers already own (most) of the albums anyway.
If you applied your logic in this instance, tero, then you may as well say that the bulk of the box itself is redundant as most of us will have those albums anyway....
But the fact of the matter is it's not redundant at all, - not everyone owns these albums already, so would have neither the music NOR the artwork.
With regards to the "only comparable product", I can only assume you mean the FM box? Fair point, but it's the only comparable set in terms of SOLO issues. When Queen 40 was released as a box, ALL of the sleeves were there - and most people would already have that.....
I didn't "expect" individual artwork, but I hoped for it, as I personally don't own Blue Rock or Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know. Also, if I went just for the box, I wouldn't have the physical artwork for the new album either.
At the end of the day, it's just another marketing ploy - if you want the artwork, linear notes etc, you need to buy the individual CD at £15, and if you want the extras.....it's the bulky (semi-redundant if you apply tero's logic) box.

It IS a marketing ploy, and the box set IS redundant.
Its main purpose is to sell the same material to the same Queen fans again, and it's doing that work as planned.
Just like with any other Queen product, it's a question of how little you can do and stil make people buy the same material again.
A 4 disc singles collection (with a bonus dvd) would retail for £30, but a 12 disc set is almost £100. That's three times the income with practically no extra work.
The Queen 40 years boxset was nothing more than the already existing individual albums collected to one lot, designed to make the fans buy all 15 albums instead of picking the ones with actual content.

Box set maybe is redundant in terms of Roger solo albums which are very easy to get cheaply.
But The Cross CDs were (or are) very expensive and not everyone can afford them.
Years ago i sold the three CDs because i was offered 110 GBP, then i though if i was wrong...Fortunately i was right...Now i can get the same CDs with better quality sound probably cheaply

^ I'm partially in agreement as you know, but I wouldn't say the set as a whole is redundant - the new album with bonus tracks, the 4 extras discs that finally collect all of the singles etc AND (finally) a DVD with the promo videos on it. That's nice! Plus, for me, I eventually get MBADTK and BR....those two alone COULD be the price of the full box if bought on ebay/amazon or whatever.

The Ukraine release ridiculously didn't come out on Blu Ray, despite being filmed in HD; Brian even ludicrously tried to defend this decision by saying that he didn't view Blu Ray as a very popular format - clearly ok for the non HD Freddie Tribute concert however!!
Shows what Brian knows then. OK Blu Ray doesn't have quite the volume of DVD but it is a very popular format.
