Well imagine you come to a forum to check what people think about the new product you've been working on by maybe 1%, and all you read is bitching and criticism, would you try to defend an "unfinished" product or would you try to make a joke and run away? His reaction was absolutely natural from a human point of view
Whenever my work is examined by other people and they find problems with it, my reactions are:

- surprise
- embarrassment
- defending my work
- desire to solve the problem

My first reaction isn't to make a joke and run away, because that doesn't help the matter at all.
The thing is I don't know how much of the work which was put into it was done by Gary, maybe it was really about 1% or nothing at all. (I REALLY don't know). That's what I was trying to say, that he maybe has (almost) nothing to do with it and is taking the piss of it just like we are
Even if he has done no work on it at all, he's still the only official voice of Roger over here.

If I see some ridiculously piss-poor work done by colleagues, I might joke about in the office before informing about it / correcting it, but I would NEVER make fun the work to the customer, let alone make fun of the customer himself.

That's bad for business, and there's no defending for Gary doing exactly that.

Maybe it's just a cultural thing?

Some people like to think of Gary as their pal from QueenZone, while I see him as a representative of the product I just bought.
A product that I can barely afford, which I hear is riddled with errors and needs to be replaced even before it has arrived to me.

You might brush it off as a joke, but I find it very disrespecting of the customers.

Yes rnr, I have in fact met GT in person and had the pleasure to chat with him for several hours during the Breakthru convention a couple years back. Very pleasant humble man, and fortunately not of the character quality you yourself exhibit.

I'm the best, and I don't care what people like you think about me.

I have had only positive experiences with Gary. He has patiently and politely answered many questions of mine via e-mail that I was afraid of getting laughed at if posted on here. No disrespect intended to those inconvenienced, but I also thought his response was funny :)

Why should I have met him? We have nothing more than a business relationship, and that's all I want.
I pay for a portion of his paycheck, and expect him to respect me as a customer.

Is that too much to ask?

you're deluding yourself. this is NOT queenonline or queen customer service
this is a fansite/forum - where ANYONE can voice their opinion or comments freely.
yes you may not like his comments - but YOU have no right to any respect from him than you do any other person you "wouldn't know from Adam" - on any internet forum anywhere

I'm sorry, but Gary is not in a position to write whatever he wants. He works for Queen, everybody knows he works for Queen, and 99% of the time he's here plugging the latest releases by Queen.
How do we know what's the official opinion of QP?

People have been fired for more insignificant online (mis)representations of their employers. Lucky for him, QP has very high tolerance with the people working for them.

no^^^
your argument only works from YOUR perception...to any outsider looking into this site for the first time - GT is passing his own opinion, not that of QPL, and therefore regardless of how personal you may feel his slight - it is nothing more than a slight from one person to another

surely all of the previous shenanigans with "the archivist" have proven this?

he may be "representing queen" in YOUR eyes...but in reality - he is only "representing himself"

have you never hear the expression
" The views and opinions expressed in this article are those of the authors and do not
necessarily reflect the official policy or position of...."

this is a case to point

ps - even (and i say even) if GT does apologise...that's still only his apology and NOt an apology on behalf of QPL

With the archivist you could always think that it's just one person.Perhaps a distant cousin of Brian's, who can't get a job anywhere else... But I guess that's my fault for giving QP a break and believing in them.

Which is why he should have stayed quiet in the first place.
I hope he learns from this feedback.

GT might well be furious, but is unable to say that here, in case it puts his job at risk. With that in mind, he shouldn't have posted a response. Having said THAT, it must be hard to read negative comments and resist leaping to your own defence. GT's comment (the last line) was annoying to read, but he shouldn't have been put in that position. QPL should have set the record straight ages ago, but in staying silent, they effectively threw GT to the wolves. Has GT angered me? Yes, a little. But there is always more to every story than meets the eye, so ultimately GT's only fault is a hastily written post in response to frustrated fans. An official apology should be issued, along with a freshly produced set.

Has anyone ever tweeted Brian May and brought his attention to GTs attitude on here? Or does he already know....
Cockeye.... you're a bit of plonker, are you not!

People have said similar things to you before, right!?

No wonder there has not been an official response regarding the quality issues on The Lot. No good deed goes unpunished.

Although not perfect, GT has been by far the best semi-official Queen representative on QZ. To express disproportionate insincere outrage at one small tongue incheek staatement is counterproductive, and does nothing to encourage that QPL do the right thing.
