I'm sorry, but Gary is not in a position to write whatever he wants. He works for Queen, everybody knows he works for Queen, and 99% of the time he's here plugging the latest releases by Queen.
How do we know what's the official opinion of QP?
People have been fired for more insignificant online (mis)representations of their employers. Lucky for him, QP has very high tolerance with the people working for them.
I think it appropriate to point out:-
1) GT is not a QPL employee. He helps us out when we call upon him, most notably co-writing sleeve notes and other text with me.
2) GT does not put his Queen job at risk, because he doesn't have a job with QPL to put at risk. Thus, he is free to speak his mind, and most often he does so, openly and without fear of upsetting his perceived employer. He just happens to do so with careful and sensible consideration, rather than blurting out all kinds of nonsense without thinking about it first! This irritates a lot of QZ-ers, who seem to think he should make public EVERYTHING he's privy to when he works on projects with us. I know this feeling well.
3) It's evident by now, surely, but just to make things absolutely clear; Gary is not an archivist. Queen employ just the one Archivist, and that is me. Gary is not here every day in the archive with me. He has his own job in Torquay and is very happy with it. We work together on the phone 99% of the time, and it works extremely well.
I hope this makes the situation clearer, and further that it illustrates how ridiculous it is to blame GT for various things alleged to be his fault, when actually he was responsible for none of the decisions or proof-readings he gets abuse over.
Many people here perceive things that are very very far removed from the actual behind-the-scenes reality. Gary helps us out without hesitation, and always does his level best, like me, to achieve the best possible end result. It is not his fault if other people then present that work in ways that are beyond his control. So, to haul him over the coals, as some of you do here, especially this week, though entirely predictable, is plainly absurd, ludicrous and inappropriate.
I recently said to Gary "Welcome to my world," because the void between the reality of my actual job, the things I do and am responsible for, and which I have absolutely no say in and am not responsible for, and how that is perceived by certain fans out there.... is VAST.
It would be great if some of you QZ-ers thought a good deal more, did a little research first, before launching into ill-informed and unfounded criticisms of what you think Gary and/or me has done wrong, or should account for, or explain away, or defend, or apologise for. It is utterly crazy!
'The Lot' is being fixed at this very moment. It's regrettable that errors crept in, of course it is. No one is more disappointed than us. But, it'll be a bloody good product offering Roger's entire back catalogue, and his new album which has just charted!!!! Enjoy it. Listen to the singles, remixes, extended versions, live renditions, previously unreleased audio, and the videos that you never had before. And all the album lyrics. All this stuff is available together under one roof for the very first time. Read the breath-takingly wondrous sleeve notes so carefully put together for you, and just take it all in. And give us a break!!

So it seems.
The man who works on every Queen related release, and comes to QueenZone only to plug the releases isn't actually employed by Queen. He's merely a freelancer (or an unpaid intern).
So instead of misrepresenting his employer, he's merely misrepresenting his client.
Is that better?
I don't think his comments are the worst thing in the world (when GB manages to insult the QZoners more in his most serious post of the decade), but Gary's points have dropped a lot in the eyes of many people around here.
And that can't be good for QP either.

I wouldn't be surprised if a concert Live At The Rainbow 1974( if this gig will be released) will also contain bugs, or will be released as vhs rip with a slight remastering.

Has anyone ever tweeted Brian May and brought his attention to GTs attitude on here? Or does he already know....
Cockeye.... you're a bit of plonker, are you not!
People have said similar things to you before, right!?
Only you - but then I don't take any notice of you 'cause I may be a plonker, but you are a twat.
At the end of the day, I am sitting here with £100 that I have borrowed from someone waiting to see whether I will ever own this set. These mistakes are dreadful, yes, but I never blamed anyone or criticised any individual.
Until GT came on here and said "it's the best box set ever and we were so excited we didn't notice the mistakes". And then followed that up with "I believe most people are extremely happy with this set" when clearly that is not the case.
Sadly, whereas I don't blame you and Gary for the mistakes, and never have, the comments GT has come up with on here haven't exactly helped the situation.
I have now made a decision - I'll stick to the spotify versions. I would have loved to have brought the set - and it is a very exciting, well put together, comprehensive set.
If someone had said - it will be fixed and you will get a copy in December, or in january 2014, or whenever, then I could wait.
But as the staff have merely posted positive things about the set and seem to be happy with it, well there's no point in hoping for a correction.
Hopefully it will turn up on pirate bay at some point.

How many cocks does one have to remove from their eyesight to see that GT was merely taking the piss out of a certain Russian troll who's had nothing but a track record of harassing and taking the piss out of everyone?
Seriously, give him a fucking break!

Unfortunately not a comment made in good judgment despite his good intentions. However he could always have said something far more rude & condescending - in other words much worse. This is not something that will ultimately hurt Gary's reputation, he is only human and EVERYBODY makes honest mistakes.
In any case, Greg has already stated that a fix is in the words, so that pretty much takes the pressure off GT to have a so-called "rep" address the error controversy. Back off GT now and leave him alone.

They are NOT staff. Please re-read GB's post and maybe research the difference between "freelance" and "staff/employee"

The answers to these simple questions will clear everything up, if you can help, Greg:
1: When you finished compiling the set and writing the book, who was responsible for the rest of the process and how was it allowed through quality control?
2: Why has the manufacturer said "we'll replace missing or duplicate discs", rather than address the problems with the tracklisting and existing disc errors. ie, will the replacement discs still have wrong tracks, wrong running order etc.
3: Why has the manufacturer not also said "we'll replace the book", given that it is unfinished, and contains inaccurate / unreadable / and missing text.
4: Is there definately going to be a revised edition produced, and will that be provided to people who have been sent the bad ones.
5: If point 4 is not happening, will the dodgy sets be sold at a reduced cost?
I think that is all people want to know - and it is fair enough to ask for those answers. You are the best man to come to with these questions, as you are the only person who seems willing to communicate with the buying public.
I really want to buy the set, that's all. Please take that as a compliment and an acknowledgement of your work. :)
