Surely the MJ stuff would be better served as a single release. It'd sell far more than an album would.

Mj is not overrated. He's a game changer. He spanned virtually 4 decades and had at least that many new beginnings. Countless people have stolen his merging of James Brown, jackie Wilson, Fred Astaire, etc. For better or worse. .. HE did it well. Everything else afterward was artificial crap.

Hell, if a musicologist analyzed his last true album *history. They'd note that he approached worldly concerns of his and others own with a complete disdain for what people cared. THAT would have been a new birth had it all not fucked with his mind and soul so badly.

Coming back to an end with stuff like "best of joy" and "all in your name", "we've had enough" he was really on the verge of a good return had he never thought of the sales and marketing aspects of his career.

If that legal and LIFE dilemma hadnt come about maybe the material wouldn't have been so acerbic, but as it had. ... had he had the confidence behind it to release it as a single album (instead of paired with a greatest hits cd) I and many others would have BOUGHT it in its first run. Hell, his most personal stuff aside from wanna be starting something was included there. (Money, 2 bad, stranger in Moscow, earth song)

I actually think the so called mj tracks (1 1/2 written by Freddie; at least the ones we've heard.... c'mon. . Jagger didn't improvise that rhythm, that's why it's almost all lost on their version) are pretty damn good.

They state things without disguise but are open and honest. "There Must be more to life than killing, a better way to survive"

Just because it's not cryptic doesn't mean that That's not the sum of much of a great many flourishing artists' body of work. .... that IS the statement that sanity and compassion call out for.

It's only the embittered who call it incredulous.

Either way. I'm looking forward to the release. I wonder what the 3 undiscovered songs are, and am looking forward to victory

Cynical people have Long since dreamed anything good and new. Can't teach an old dog new tricks if his tail don't wag.

You've got to love it to care for it (life and music) got to love it to hurt for it. Michael did a hell of a lot of that in his life. He also did a hell of a lot of studying everyone and everything under the Sun. People that call him overrated don't know a fucking thing about paying dues. The sheer energy and enthusiasm he put out overshadows most performers... nevermind the positive influence and spirit he gave countless people around the world (sometimes even just to survive).

Calling the man overrated is simply ignorant.

Sure! Have it or them as (a) single(s) release first! But it's (they have) got to go on the album too I think. And the fact is they will have plenty of space if MIH and its untitled track at the end are anything to go by.

Matt Z is dead on!

Matt Z, agreed.

I wouldn't call the Freddie & MJ tracks great but I don't think they're shite. They are decent and for me personally just hearing their voices is enough, IMO they both have fantastic singing abilities. No one can sound quite like them and I'm looking forward to listening to two of my favourite artists singing together. I'm sure Brian & Roger will make them listenable and perhaps even enjoyable.

Today's radio is mostly simple pop songs without much creativity. I think the Michael/Queen tunes could fit right in with that style. Yea, the songs we heard so far arn't brilliant, no Thriller or Bo Rhap, but these songs have a chance of being hits because they fit in with this era of mediocrity...The songs arn't great, but they do sound catchy enough to be hits...If katy Perry music is huge I think State Of shock has a chance, especially with Brian May Working his magic. I just hope these Jackson songs are released on an Ep that's seperate from the potential album. I also hope Adam lambert doesn't do any duets with Freddie. I have a gut feeling Adam will make an appearance. i don't have high hopes for this album or whatever it will be. When was the last time Brian and Roger created a great album?...i could see Fans dissapointed and moaning on Queenzone after hearing these songs...

The last time they worked with what Freddie had left would be the answer. The only other album they have work on, together, was The Cosmos Rocks, an ok album, just not a great Queen album.

Instead of condeming what hasn't appeared yet, why not give them the chance to finish and release it then decide?

Also with a limited amount of usable material what would be the point of not releasing the MJ tracks as part of the album, Its not like other artists haven't appeared on a Queen album in the past. In the public domain an EP with Freddie and MJ on it will gain far more press coverage than a Queen album. So if they did as you suggest and release an EP it would be a sure fire way of burying the album.

I think a Queen version of "Love Kills" would be incredible! Would love to hear that on a new album.

Brian and Roger, make as much music as you can!!!

I still don't like the idea of the 'new' Queen Album too much.
But...I wonder what the could do of 'Love is the Hero' if they would turn it into Queen + Billy Squire song...this could be a real blast...just dreaming...

I think the "Live" remix gives us a good idea as to how that would sound. I think it's great.
As fans we obviously expect all killer, no filler in whatever new Queen album but if they are going to rework yet another Freddie track, I would be Ok with this one.

Buuuuut, on the other hand, this has been issued many times. Granted, it hasn't been a hit, but we had it as a Freddie single remix as recent as 2006.

Crazy thought...

Queen + Montserrat Caballé doing Barcelona. No orchestra, just the doctor's Red Special doing the second thing it does best: orchestrating.

(What's the First thing? Rocking, of course!)

Just thought I'd say in case people don't know this, but for whose of you complaining about Michael Jackson's vocals, here's a treat - a Queen-only version of 'Victory' was recorded during sessions for The Works, at a very similar time to when the band laid down 'Man Made Paradise' and 'Love Kills'. Maybe Brian and Roger will take THAT recording out of the vault and polish it.

3 songs ... recorded OVER 30 YEARS ago...
Not sure if I like to listen to songs that weren't even considered for HOT SPACE....

You might be right clavinova. But we haven't heard it yet. I am trying to keeping open mind, as I doubt Roger and Brian would sully their recorded work after so many years. Most people were happy with Made in Heaven, as I certainly was, so I'm very definitely hoping for something special once more.
