In terms of well rounded voice...Singer who doesnt depends how high he can hit notes but sing with soul.

Well, if Roger thinks that Adam's voice is one in a billion, that's a pretty good indication that it's not only about hitting the high notes. It's about having a truly beautiful, even gorgeous voice for singing music in every genre!

One of my favourite singers is Greg Dulli of the Afghan Whigs. He hardly sings a note in tune, but he has such feeling that you hardly notice.
Matthew Bellamy is a far more technically accomplished singer, and pretty damn soulful too IMO.

Matt Corby and Wally de Backer (Gotye), both Australians, are favourites of mine.
The former has a tendency to mimic Dylan, but when he slips into his natural tone he sounds much better.

been a fan of muse since Showbiz came out... (1999)... so yea Matthew Bellamy fits the bill.
I find he doesn't get as much praise as he probably should.

Cedric from Mars Volta.
Also, good point about Greg Dulli, a very good voice. Not a great singer, but full of emotion. Black love is a masterpiece.

"Queen's Roger Taylor Talks Solo Work, Hopes Band Will Record With Adam Lambert," October 27, 2014
"It could be a very interesting experiment," he says. "It would be nice to just go in and see what came out. I don't know if it would be an album or anything, but I think it's too good a marriage to just let it go at touring. I'm sure we'll do something. His voice is so extraordinary, and it's a beautiful instrument. I think it would be nice."
Taylor adds with a laugh that, "I guess we better come up with some material. We've sort of mentioned it, yeah, but not in a serious way. I think we'll probably get this [European] tour over with and maybe come up while we're touring, 'Do you want to go in and try to write something?'"
Taylor adds that the group did film a show in Sydney and also recorded audio every night, which will result in some sort of release "that will be out there at some point," though no details have been determined."
Is where I have to stop reading. It's not because of Lambert, who has more talent than a number of the assclowns that Queen have allowed to step up to the mic since 1991. It's more to do with him as juxtaposed to the question posed in this thread title.
And I spose it's also the number of shit performers that Roger and Brian have rubber stamped in recent years that sort of rule them out of being a reliable indicator anymore.

like YOU were EVER going to mention any other singer? c'mon for once, just name someone else that you think is good that doesn't have the initials AL - or does your musical frame of reference have no depth?

Joe Cocker? Stevie Wonder? Though they're not really what they used to be.

Interesting............I;d love to hear what they come up with! I'd say Adam is definitely among my favorite singers at the moment.....and I always was a huge Paul Rodgers fan (even before he did anything with Queen....lol)..............I guess I dont really know much about singers of newer bands.......
here's a pick out of left field (at least for me, considering my musical tastes)..........not a rock singer at all..............
Mariah Carey..............just in terms of sheer range..............who hits the high notes like her?? lol
Just too bad I never cared for her music, really.............
