^What he said. Come to think of it, I don't think i've ever seen a Queen live release that shows the band on the front cover aside from Queen on Fire.

I love it, it is 1000 times better than yesterday one. I bet for tomorrow will be the announce.

decades of graphic design says that the artwork of a CD or DVD or book it's almost as important as the content
otherwise, all the artwork in every release would be plain white and black fonts ;)

I agree that they should have the entire band in the covers. Of course it's a lot easier to find a good picture with one or two of the members in it, than a good close up picture with the whole band in it. I mean just the size of the stage makes it difficult for all of them to be in a close up shot. Unless they use a picture taken at the end of the show when they're all together at the front of the stage. I always really liked Live Killers cover even though they're hidden in the shadows.

and... that image from the band on Live Killers had to be modified (Brian) because his position on the picture wasn't the best
as you said, is not always posible to put a 4 members picture on a Queen release unless you create a collage with separate pictures...

Now that you mentioned it, it clearly is a cut/paste job when I looked at it closely. Brian just doesn't quite fit in and his silhouette looks dodgy compared to the background.

I don't really like the front cover. But I can't say I'm surprised.

Artwork IS important. The visual presentation is the most important thing if you want to sell it in stores (and want people to check it out on e-tailers). Also, if they can't be bothered to produce proper professional-looking artwork, then what signal does that send about the product itself. And why should we be bothered to buy such a half-arsed product?

something strange happened with the "reply with quote" option, I'm sure I wrote it! ;)
Anyway, IMHO the cover is not the most important thing, I will buy Queen at the Odeon with any cover
The White Album of the Beatles or the official bootlegs released by Pearl Jam are good example of discs that selling well but that don't have a great cover.
If Queen release a series of official bootlegs for every tour they did, I bet we would buy it with closed eyes.

Therefore you are no marketing/sales director. You should think commercially.
When this is the cover, it's suits perfectly to the content of the Hammersmith release. Standard and boring with no really suprising extra's.
