Can't agree more with you, Ale. I was impatiently awaiting Queen version and then on Chris Evans show they presented something which was wayyyy worse than Freddie's solo version. I was angry as I think that TMBMTLTT is one of the best songs on Freddie's solo album. They have so much vocal takes of it (see my above post) and that's what we've ended up with ? I was let down... We were let down. With those takes they could make an excellent Queen-only version... Did they really need Michael on it ?..... Maybe it sounds like a conspiracy theory but what if Queen did this only to obtain the tapes from FM/MJ sessions (assuming they were copied by QProd.).... :) :)

As it's a Freddie solo track I think they should have just told the MJ Estate to £&@? off, then just released a proper Queen only version. God knows why they chased the Jackson $ when it was such a poor version, promoted so poorly, that it sank without a trace anyway.

You're forgetting that they were PEERS at the time. One risen high and another (MJ) continually rising higher.
Both productions would have been wise to release it to equal rapture but you know how lawyers complicit in an artists' death can be. ...
.... very high and mighty and shallow
Even with a band called QUEEN

Fascinating.
Is this just a fan mix, or is there more than meets the eye?
Either way, it slays the Orbit version.

I'm pretty sure it's impossible isolating the vocals that well without access to the actual tracks.

Was there ever any comment from the official Queen camp on this? I still want to know more about it, not just speculation. It's fascinating. This would have been a nice addition to the Balads album. I still cannot believe they released the dreadful Orbit version, it is easily the most embarrassing thing they have released to date.

Just hearing this now.
Fascinating. Great vocals.
Wonder where this came from...

Just throwing it out there - I've just done a quick bit of back and forth between MJ's vocals in this new version (particularly "c'est la vie" and the lead-up to it) and the piano version...
I wonder if these are the same vocals from MJ, just miraculously cleaned up (somehow!), and the "c'est la vive" has been tidied to sound correct.
The phrasing of all the words seem the same to me. Even though the enunciation of certain words (particularly the F in "fighting" and the way he sings "rights") is much more buried in the piano version, the flow seem remarkably similar.
Either way, what a curious find this is!

^I doubt it. Re editing a DELIVERY would be damn near impossible (AFAIK)
Michael's delivery is much softer and he doesn't mispronounce C'est la vie in this mix. It's a different take. The one we're accustomed to hearing is a live rush take with both.
I'm surprised there's still no word on it in either the media or from the band camp

Wasn't it reported around 1996 that John Deacon had made a remix of this song? He would certainly have had access to all the tapes, which would explain the parts that have not been heard before.

Yes, but if I remember correctly Brian stated that there was no guitar on this track even when it was worked on during The Works sessions so...

I would quite like to hear these vocals put to the music from the Orbit version with the original backing track. Anyone on here got the skills to do something like that?

I had a go at mixing this version with the Orbit version, and the piano take from the Freddie box. I also re-did the drums using available stems (so it's still Roger playing!). It's not perfect and could do with some tweaking here and there to get the vocals tightened to the backing. The guitar solo is interesting combined - https://soundcloud.com/rcooper1985/there-must-be-more-to-life-than-this-and-this-mix/s-95427
