Another Freddie Mercury compilation album on the way

Honestly, I think it looks nice. I'm not going to buy it, because I have all the tracks already, but it's a very attractive and seemingly well-executed collection, as opposed to the horror story of Queen's singles collection from a few years ago. The title is stupid (why not call it what it is – "The Freddie Mercury Singles Collection"?) and the front cover brings back memories of that fucking lion with sunglasses from "Queen Rocks", but there's a beautiful, full color booklet and all tracks, except 'Love Kills', seem to replicate faithfully what was on the original vinyl. (Why 'Rotwangs Party' isn't on the B-side might be because they couldn't get the rights, or because it simply wasn't a Freddie Mercury track. That's my one gripe about the content – they could have put something else on there; as someone said, the extended 'Love Kills', or the demo version, or the Argentinian edit...)

Exactly - which confirms the choice is purely about money and not with any artistic intent at all. Once you start releasing singles in a pack that feature horrible remixes which have nothing left of Freddie on other than his compositional skills and his vocal, you're scraping the barrel.

Would also love to hear the BBC sessions properly mixed, if they have the multi-tracks.

Funny, I'd love to hear the BBC tracks unmixed. Please no studio corrections unless it's an issue with TAPE SPEED or cracks and HISS.

I'd hate to hear newly sourced audio added to it.

They won't be release bad quality material.

Right. To finally have ALL the BBC sessions released in one complete collection would be something many fans have been wanting and waiting for.

^ Because there doesn't exists a BBC version of TMOTBQ. They just played the album version.

Basically just putting almost everything which was ever released by Freddie on the market again - but not as new compilations - just as extended/deluxe editions of the original albums.

^ Nice concept. There are some omissions like 'Foolin' Around' full length version from 'Teachers' OST, and couple of 'Great Pretender' and 'Time' 1992 remixes from promo singles.
Also I don't think it is necessary to feature all these shitty dance remixes from 1992-93 and 2006.

I'm sure some stuff is missing, I just took a look at the singles/albums/compilations at Discogs. Either way - it would just be another rehash of stuff we've already had. However, it would keep the original albums in print instead of just a selection of singles - which are missing some of the best tracks in Freddie solo-career (La Japonaise etc). Put each album in a fold-out digipack, make a slipcase available for all 4 releases and you've got a great selection of FM music. I wasn't sure about including the 1992/2006 mixes either - but as they were official releases I decided to include them. Same goes for the 2012 remake of Barcelona.

Every great album should be done like this. Unfortunately we got a 5 track bonus EP. Imagine what a format like this would mean for other albums:

Fully agree. If they plan to do something like the 2011 version of See What A Fool I've Been they can add these as BONUS TRACKS to supplement the "untouched" versions
