I retract from some of my sayings:
We (as fans, not hardcore fans, as simple fans) feel that this is incredibly unnecessary. That's where the anger comes from. Instead of releasing any of the expected/wanted recordings, we get the same stuff we have already heard (via YouTube or whichever service you prefer).
I understand you Gayr, from your place in this (as Gary or Queen) you can't do anything against it. They signed a contract, and to let them release X things, you need to do Y things. It's just the prepotency of seeing this things released handling us furiously. I hope you understand us.

“Do anything you want with my music dear, but never make me boring!” – Freddie Mercury

And: "Freddie Mercury - Messenger of the Gods" - don't think I've heard anything more stupid to be honest.
What's wrong with "Legend", or "Lover of Life, Singer of Songs"?
Mercury is the messenger of the gods in Greek mythology. It's an overblown title certainly but Freddie Mercury wasn't especially understated!
*ROMAN mythology
Greek = Hermes
Roman = Mercury/Mercurio (Mercurius)
By the way, I think that the concept itself of a "compilation album" is quite pointless in these digital ages. Where one can easily make an online playlist, even in a legal way. But it`s their business, not mine.

So. What I think about this new compilation.
In 2000 was released Freddie Solo Collection.
In 2006 was released first compilation LOLSOS
And now through 10 years will be released another one compilation
You know what, Freddie solo material were printed not so often as Queen studio and live material.
If Queen studio and live material printed almost every one or two years, about Freddie solo material I can't say.
Of course they could be release again Freddie Solo Collection, but who'll buy it again.
Of course they could release one bonus CD with studio outtake and so on, but you need to wait 80's Freddie's Birthday.
So, from a different point of view this is good and bad release. One may criticize this release and the company that came up with this release. But the fact remains.

It's really unbelievable how much attention and re-re-rereleases such a brief and rather unsuccessful solo career has generated post-1991. I personally love pretty much anything with Freddie's voice on it, but does any non-fan actually buy this stuff? For example, during my entire life I have heard a FM solo song only a couple of times on the radio (once LOMO and once or twice TGP) and in addition to these Barcelona has received some wider attention. That's it. Still, the stunning Solo Collection was released way back in 2000, but with the exception of bits and peaces here and there, we are still waiting for a similar Queen product.

I will be not entirely surprised at fan's reactions when will be announced about "Queen On Air"

A lot better will be to release proper deluxe 2(3) CD+DVD packages of both solo albums.
Even if it'll be mostly a repackaging of Solo Collection material, both albums will be finally available to the public. With good PR campaign they'll be a sellers.

Not entirely surprised at fan's reactions at this product, although looking at the comments here, I think they are a bit harsh. The 7" vinyl format has never before been released in its entirety until now, and on coloured vinyl too. Not sure what people were expecting.
So Gary, your last sentence is so spot on, you and merely QP have no clue what people were expecting. The question is, why don't you know what people are expecting for the 70 anniversary of Freddie's birthday? Lack of interest? But if you or for that matter QP aren't that suprised with the (typical) fan, gives me the impression that you don't have the same interest as any Queen fan/collector. Typical, a re-release is again released, it's a flop, but you try to sell it as it is pure gold. Look at the bright colours people. Please don't be harsh with your comments on our yet again shitty release. Pull the plug QP, you're pulling at a dead horse....typical.

While I do understand the bloke's been dead for nearly 25 years ... there are still loads of far better ideas that don't necessarily need to cater exclusively to die-hard fans. Life's not B&W...

Sure ... music fans should care about bloody colours more than musical contents ... of course.

There's a limit to what can be released by a non producing deceased artist and a defunct band.
It's natural things will be repackaged every few years. We don't need to buy it.
Queen are not the only ones.
Even nme favourites like The Smiths have more compilations than actual albums.
