well two if you count Live Killers and Crazy Tour as separate. Odd that it didn't get played on Jazz Tour.
My own guess is that Freddie couldn't sing it/do it justice live - not at its correct tempo.

Yeah, of course. I'm just lumping under a "year".
That's exactly my thinking. I don't think Freddie could match the pace and so the live arrangement sounded off.
We could probably start a new thread on what songs Queen should have left alone live v ones we think they could have done.

It was a difficult song to play (especially singing) plus when it was in the set it was one of the many songs that Freddie was playing piano on in the set - at a time when he wanted to play less and less.
I think Q+AL have a better arrangement of the song now when they perform it live which makes it a bit better to play for everyone.
Has anyone seen this video when Don't Stop Me Now when the best driving song of all time on Top Gear?

Don’t Stop Me Now was decent live. I’d say another Queen song that wasn’t done justice Live was I want to break free. It just doesn’t sound right Live. I agree that the Magic tour set was not on e of their best. I always thought this was a nice set for that tour.
1. One Vision
2. Tie Your Mother Down or Let Me Entertain You
3. Piano Medley
- LOTGR
- SSOR
- Killer Queen
- Death On Two Legs
- Your My Best Friend
4. It’s a hard life or Somebody to Love
5. Under Pressure
6. A kind of Magic
7. Impromptu
8. Rock Medley
- Keep yourself Alive
- Liar
- Stone cold Crazy
- Great king Rat
9. Now I’m Here
10. Guitar solo
11. Brighton Rock reprise
12. Vocal Improv
13. Mustapha Intro/Who Wants to Live Forever
14. Acoustic Medley
- Love of My Life
- Is this the world we created
- The Night Comes Down
- 39
15. Bohemian Rhapsody
16. Hammer To Fall
17. Crazy Little Thing Called Love
18. Friends Will Be friends
19. Radio GaGa
1st Encore
20. Another One Bites the Dust
21. Sheer Heart Attack
22. Jailhouse rock Medley
2nd Encore
23. We Will Rock You
24. We are The Champions
25. We will rock You
26. God Save the Queen
I feel that would have been a more fan pleasing set that brought back some oldies but stayed new.

I remember Brian & Roger saying that they hated "Don't Stop Me Now" but it has become second favourite of all time in Queen fans top ten! I wonder what they think of that, another Mercury smash![/QUOTE]
Exactly-May slammed the song because of the lack of guitars and now as he sees it is popular he has done a 360 degree is praising it but wants his guitar on every new version. Two faced man as I said - my least fave member by far. He has become a real hippocrite - with his vegan and animal stuff as well.

I've cut a few out to save space, but some points:
>> Freddie's singing of DSMN live is pretty bad. he struggles to keep up, the "S" on "stop" always sounded slurred/drunk on the Live Killers bootlegs.
>> why WWRY twice at the end?
>> that setlist is practically impossible. It weighs in at almost 2.5 hrs. Queen gigs were usually 1.5 - 1.75 hrs not a chance they're doing 1 more hour!

I know they usually don’t play that long. I should’ve wrote that each song in the medley would be around a minute, so each medley would only be around 5ish mintutes which would be around the amount of time for the average song on the set. The Magic Tour’s basic set with the songs played every night was 27 and almost every concert had a special song added so who knows. The average concert on the Magic tour was around an hour and fifty minutes so it would probably wouldn’t be two much more. They did two hour concerts pretty often.

The rock medley would’ve consisted of A short version of keep yourself alive into the liar solo then the works tour versions of Stone cold Crazy and Great King Rat.

Barcelona 1:40
Berlin 1:45
Brussels 1:42
Budapest 1:36
Dublin 1:43
Frejus 1:42
Knebworth: 1:49
Madrid 1:40
Mannheim: 1:49
Paris 1:38
Wembley (Fri) 1:43
Wembley (Sat) 1:49
Nothing even exceeds 1:50 - so definitely not an average!
I won't get into the 2-hour thing - because as a Queen fan of 45 years, I'd be pretty surprised if more than a handful of gigs (likely Sth America) ever lasted over 2 hours. Even some of the longer gigs were still a couple of minutes under 2hours - and remember this is the running time of the bootlegs. I'm sure if you exclude the gaps between encores, and before the band starts up and finishes (anthem) you'd shave a 2 or 3 more minutes off each.
Queen's typical concert length (once they were headliners) was around 1:30 - 1:40 - I've found several complete concerts at around 1:25 - 1:27

I decided upon myself to do the math myself for my setlist and find out myself what the time length would be. I took Barcelona and subtracted the songs I didn’t put in my set and added the ones I did. Now doing the math with my fan set it would be around 111 minutes. Which isn’t much more than a Magic tour concert usually is. It’s only two minutes more than Wembley and Knebworth. I meant for my set to be less of a Magic tour set and more like the Works Tour. If you look at the Works tour there were plenty that reached 111 minutes. I know this set would never happen. Heck I put The Night Comes Down on it, but it’s just what I thought could’ve worked. If you disagree that’s fine. I don’t really need or should care. Hats off to you for your knowledge and dedication to this band.

As for length of concerts Queen were threatened in Leeds 82 that if they over ran there set then power would go off and police called in, charming eh !

Yes and no. It wasn't about an over-run. It was because Queen wanted to go on stage (when it was finally dark) at 10pm!
Leeds' Elland Road is/was situated in a residential area. There are laws and by-laws covering noise after nightfall. The council/police were bound by the law and a duty to local residents. The band DID go on late and (obviously)| the power wasn't cut - Queen having arranged a later curfew with the Police. Instead Queen were fined by the local council - I don't know if this was a means to compensate residents.
However, this doesn't restrict the length of the gig. If bands start "on time" there's no issue. The Milton Keynes gig was originally due to be at Arsenal's Highbury, but switched in the way Old Trafford became Elland Road. FWIR the first bars of "Flash" were heard about 15-20 mins late.

Yeah i attended Elland Road Queen gig on May 29 1982.
I remember most of the street lighting was turned off for miles to compensate for Queen's powerful lighting rig and in fact if you look behind Rogers drum kit you will some Street lighting on a distance road turned off as it was quite late when Queen performed.
Great memories.

I'm not sure that was the case. I think the street lighting was off until about 10pm at that time of year anyway, as it doesn't really start to get dark until around that time.
Usually, end of May/beginning June the UK sun sets around 9:15pm. There's then a period of twilight called "Civil Twilight", during this period (upto 1 hour) the street lights (they're on darkness sensors) light up - according to how dark each locality is.
