If we are playing the blame game then I think it's fair enough to blame the gay community for the spread of AIDS in San Fransisco. We could also blame the drug users in Edinburgh for the spread of AIDS in my home town and as far as the shitty state of Africa goes, it's all down to the Catholic Church.

I have never met anyone with AIDS. I have very few gay friends (all of which that can be counted on 1 hand). Although I participate in many charitable organizations, I have never participated in an AIDS walk or event. AIDS has not directly touched my life. However, I am aware of the impact that this disease has on people world wide, and I sympathize. My heart goes out to you Iron Eagle.

I would have liked to believe that people who listen to Queen would be a little more tolerant than what I have experienced here. "Fucking arabs", "skanks", "whores"... I really can't believe that in 2004 people still hold on to these disturbing notions. It goes beyond being childish or ignorant... there's no words describe it.

I don't think that living in the middle east or any other country that isn't "western" is an excuse. My parents are both from small villages in India, where topics such sex, homosexuality, prostitution, etc. were never talked about. Until this day... Persians have been in India for hundreds of years... as in the case of Freddie's history. Freddie's upbringing was Indian. Freddie's birth certificate even states him being "Indian" in nationality (http://www.mr-mercury.co.uk/Images/Birthcertificatefreddie.jpg). When he died, his mother went back to India with an exhibition of his life. There are many famous "Persians" (I use that term lightly) from India. Authors Rohinton Mistry & Firdaus Kanga, Persis Khambatta (former Miss India), and Maestro Zuben Metha are among them. In fact, my own history traces back to some Persian roots.
