So true! Where I live, not only are people narrowminded this way, but they either don't know who Freddie is or worse they immediately dislike him because of where he was born! [/QUOTE]
Where do you live? In Romania the adults usually know who he is, but the youngsters usually no (except for me - I'm 17 - and quite a few rockers)... I was once talking about Queen to some of my schoolmates. One of them said: "Queen? Never heard of them". The other said in a very arrogant way: "What?! You've never heard of them? Come on: Queen, Freddie Mercury: he was gay, he was drinking, he was on drugs and he died of AIDS... Oh and he had a beautiful voice too"... I really felt like breaking down and crying...

and he could have been drinking, having sexual orgies, be a gay, be a drug addict....whatever he wanted to be, he would be without a shame. If someone depicts him the way your friend did, I would only laugh at that silly, narrowminded person. While he judges Freddie, I love Freddie. With all that it takes. And I know, as millions of his true fans around the world, the way he was was just great. He was the most significant character of many generations, something like a brand new, radical movement. A fresh air that we were breathing. Now he's untouchable. A Legend.
