Freddie's voice fuck-ups on stage

FYI Freddie didn't suck live, he sucked cock.

If he stank live, then I say move along, get another bootleg.
He's allowed to have the occasional off-night.
'Sides...even on his Monday worst, he still beats everyone pants-down.

Freddie Mercury was so good. I like Paul Rodgers very much, but Freddie Mercury is a own disciplin, he acts like a god. I don`t believe in religion but if there is something special outside , I`m shure Freddie have it. There are a just a few in Rock, like Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Paul Di` Anno, Nina Hagen or even Johnny Rotten there have this magic flair and stood for themselves.
Naturally, Fred messed up his voice live sometimes... he doesn`t sing high keys at all, but consider how surprising wonderful and really exciting Paul sounds on the European tour... and how much better Freddie was. Never seen Freddie live - is my biggest loss in my life, forever.

In Earl's Court I liked when Freddie, Roger, and Brian were singing "Find me Somebody to Love..." and they were all off time so it was like "find me-me so-somebody t-to lo-love..."

"Somebody to love" from Earls Court (video) is one of my all time Queen favourites. Especially the line "I`m okay I`m alright" brings shivers down my spine. Milton Keynes SOMEBODY TO LOVE is great but Earls Court sounds in my ears even better. Also Doing Alright is a real killer.

Son, I think you need to realize I was being sarcastic and only mocking the inevitable sycophants who were going to come in and defend Freddie (edit: like our dear friend Sharon G. below me). I thought that was painfully obvious by my closing line.

I am quite surprised that no one gives the credit to Paul Rodgers for singing absolutely on key at all times during the two concerts I have seen (antwerp and arnhem). Immediately after the show in Antwerp I really felt that Paul Rodgers might even be a better singer than Freddie was live. But Freddie just had something more than just a nice voice.

I was at the Antwerp gig and though it was nice to see B&R play, Paul is good on most tracks... but AKOM did get the hairs on my neck twisting and turning. That's the only song he - included in the set list - he shouldn't have done.

And... what does Freddie have more than just the nice voice??? ;-)

Why did AKOM make your hairs stand up? He was not out of key as far as I heard, it was just not fast enough. Compare the current version of AKOM with the one of Wembley 86 and it is obvious that at wembley it is played far faster, making the whole song more energetic (same holds for most songs actually, maybe because Paul does not like singing at a high speed)

Freddie didn`t want to repeat the CD performance. He was seeking something new everytime, so it`s normal if in the middle of that excitement he fucked up the performance.
I think that the only Queen member that never screwd a live performance was John Deacon so...

It`s just rock`n`roll, enjoy it!!

Freddie was NOT a good singer live. He was constantly out of tune, he squeaked all over the place, his enunciation was very poor, and list goes on. Honestly, I wouldn't even know it was the same guy singing on the albums, where it was absolute perfection.

Don't get me wrong, Freddie put on an amazing live show, but the actual singing was simply not that good.

it's not the speed of the song, more the way Paul sung it.

I know he'd had a few throat problems the two or three previous shows, and that may be the reason.
But I got the feeling he couldn't quite get the high(ish) notes. He seemd to be struggling a little. I was with a couple of friends and we all seemed to agree.

Just one song is not bad - especially when we're used to a certain type of voice singing these songs. So hats off to Paul, but he didn't quite get it out of the bag on AKOM.

Great concert anyway! But not the best in my opinion 'cause Freddie wasn't in top shape and he had some mic problems.
