The next track was announced, by the way!

"These Are The Day Of Our Lives" is Track 13.

i) We Will Rock You                             UK #2 (via "Champions," "WWRY" was never an A-side in the UK)
ii) We Are The Champions                    UK #2
iii) Radio Ga Ga                                    UK #2
iv) Another One Bites The Dust               UK #7
v) I Want It All                                        UK #3
vi) Crazy Little Thing Called Love              UK #2
vii) A Kind Of Magic                                UK #3
viii) Under Pressure                                UK #1
ix) One Vision                                        UK #7
x) You're My Best Friend                        UK #7
xi) Don't Stop Me Now                            UK #9
xii) Killer Queen                                     UK #2
xiii) These Are The Days Of Our Lives     UK #1

Now I'm starting to think Bohardy is right! He predicted "Don't Stop Me Now" and "Days Of Our Lives". Those are both Top UK 10. He also predicted "Who Wants To Live Forever" (#24) and "The Show Must Go On" (#16). If they make it, my theory is toast.

Who Wants To Live Forever has been listed as the next song.

Found this old topic yesterday - some interesting insights:

Surely Innuendo will not be overlooked for the Absolute Greatest cd?

Well it is not Going to be The Top Ten UK Hits in this new album, really I did like the sound of this at first but now it just seems all 1980s and not THE BEST of Queen.

You're right! WWTLF made it aboard!

Well, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to head out back with my Top 10 UK theory and put a round into it.

) We Will Rock You                             UK #2 (via "Champions," "WWRY" was never an A-side in the UK)
ii) We Are The Champions                    UK #2
iii) Radio Ga Ga                                    UK #2

hey don't beat yourself up about it, it WAS a perfectly good theory for the first 13 songs :)
Who knows HOW they came up with their list - maybe it was just a pin and blindfold LMAO.

I'm not beating myself up, I'm just disappointed at what I call the consistent inconsistency of QP. A single CD of Top Ten hits makes a certain amount of sense. Queen have 24 of them in the UK, which cover their career pretty evenly, so they could have picked 20 from them, or enough to fill an 80 minute CD, and there you go. i know it's pointless to ask "What were they thinking?" and I'm trying to resist the urge...but...God!....

What...

Were...

No! Not going to say it! It's hard, but...

Fuck! (My brain just exploded!)

Only six to go.

I put my money on: Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody To Love, I Want To Break Free, Innuendo, The Show Must Go On and Heaven For Everyone.

Of those six i can only imagine Heaven For Everyone and Innuendo not making the cut, the last one because of its length. I still think Tie Your Mother Down deserves a spot, compensating the fact it isn't on GH1.

I mean, Brian May has succeeded in making that one a stone cold classic over the years, right? Since Q+PR didn't play Now I'm Here i guess it's the track Brian and Roger played the most, am i right?

The inclusion of Who Wants To Live Forever proves they're not looking at chart positions, thank god. This really's gonna be a collection of the most well know tracks all over the world. And i think it's great.

Cheerz,

"The Seven Seas Of Rhye" had made Track 15.

i) We Will Rock You                             UK #2 (via "Champions," "WWRY" was never an A-side in the UK)
ii) We Are The Champions                    UK #2
iii) Radio Ga Ga                                    UK #2
iv) Another One Bites The Dust               UK #7
v) I Want It All                                        UK #3
vi) Crazy Little Thing Called Love              UK #2
vii) A Kind Of Magic                                UK #3
viii) Under Pressure                                UK #1
ix) One Vision                                        UK #7
x) You're My Best Friend                        UK #7
xi) Don't Stop Me Now                            UK #9
xii) Killer Queen                                     UK #2
xiii) These Are The Days Of Our Lives     UK #1
xiv) Who Wants To Live Forever                UK #24 (the first non-UK Top 10 hit here! [sigh])
xv) The Seven Seas Of Rhye                    UK #10

I guess I don't need to track the chart positions (which QP is obviously ignoring...), but I've come this far and *I* chose to be consistent, haha.

Also, I have to say, every guess I've made after "Champions" has been completely wrong. The track listing is so utterly back and forth between decades I'm resigned to guessing at random. The odds seem about the same!

"Heaven For Everyone" is Track 16.

Here's how it looks:

i) We Will Rock You                             UK #2 (via "Champions," "WWRY" was never an A-side in the UK)
ii) We Are The Champions                    UK #2
iii) Radio Ga Ga                                    UK #2
iv) Another One Bites The Dust               UK #7
v) I Want It All                                        UK #3
vi) Crazy Little Thing Called Love              UK #2
vii) A Kind Of Magic                                UK #3
viii) Under Pressure                                UK #1
ix) One Vision                                        UK #7
x) You're My Best Friend                        UK #7
xi) Don't Stop Me Now                            UK #9
xii) Killer Queen                                     UK #2
xiii) These Are The Days Of Our Lives     UK #1
xiv) Who Wants To Live Forever                UK #24 (the first non-UK Top 10 hit here! [sigh])
xv) The Seven Seas Of Rhye                    UK #10
xvi) Heaven For Everyone                        UK #2

I've taken to guessing "I Want To Break Free" every time because eventually it's got to be right! Haha

I think it is a safe bet that Bohemian rhapsody will close out the cd...at least in my mind.
· Member since
Well, it's pretty obvious anyway, but BR was the track I was referring to earlier that rhyeking guessed in the right position.

Yes, you did. I mentioned earlier in the thread that it appears you'll be correct. If you know the track listing already, maybe you know the answer to this: why didn't they stick with UK Top 10 hits? I have nothing against WWTLF and TSMGO (which, if you're right, will end up on there, too), but with the name 'Absolute Greatest Hits,' it implies the best of the best. It's not as if they had too few Top 10s to pick from, they actually had too many (24, in fact).

It's a small niggle, but there you go.

I seem to vaguely remember that Bohardy made an "outlandish" prediction about Queen (based on info he knew from an inside source in the music industry if I remember correctly) which turned out to be true.  I can't remember Bohardy's prediction, but I have an inkling that it concerned the then unannouced QPR tour of the US, or the unannounced upcoming studio album from QPR.

Then again, my my mind might be playing tricks with me, and I'm full of shit as usual.

Per your link that you posted when you started this topic ...

http://www.pcpki.com/queen/singles.html

... TSMGO is a very reasonable choice as it was a top 10 hit in two countries and charted 10 weeks or more in three countries.

Presumably, Innuendo will apparently be omitted from this CD, because it did not chart for 10 weeks in any country (although it reached #1 in the UK and #4 in Holland).

In my opinion (based on "The Charts"), WWTLF clearly does not deserve to be included in this CD, as it did not chart 10 weeks in any country, and only managed to reach #7 in Holland when it was reissued for the FM Tribute concert in 1992.  Based on "The Charts", Breakthru, Innuendo, FBG and Bicycle Race are more deserving than WWTLF.  Even the much maligned Body Language is more deserving than WWTLF, as it charted for 14 weeks in the USA, and reached #6 in Holland.

Evidently WWTLF will make into the top 20 songs on this CD because Roger did not have the balls to stand up to Brian.

Save Me reached #11 in the UK and was in the charts for 6 weeks, so that would be more deserving to be on this compliation than Who Wants To Live Forever.

It's hardly an "Absolute Greatest" cd if one of the UK #1's - i.e. Innuendo - is omitted!
