I'm not an expert, but they have definitely done something to make it look like the source material was film as opposed to video
Somehow though, I think I prefer this compared to the old dvd version
about the sound though; part 2 still sounds full of echo and hollow, whereas part 1 sounds very good. how is that possible?

Its been a while since I've watched the whole show and ive just sat through the whole concert. Was quite suprised given the slagging off its had.
I found it quite emotive and sad really.
I know the 3 of them did the Paris Elton John thing but its seems such a waste.

FYI, the US release date now looks like October 15th

None of the HMV stores here in Canada (particularly BC and Alberta for sure) have received their stock for this release, and it's still showing Sep. 10th on their database.
Are the UK/EUR BD release fully playable on Region A players? I might import it at this rate if it's being delayed a full month.

The UK blu ray is 60 Hz 1080i.
There is no mention of region on box or disc.

According to soxtalon over on QOL, the BD plays fine on his Region A BD player.

All of the DVDs and Blurays done by the new record company are NTSC and they're not region encoded. Unfortunately they're all HDCP-protected (which should be illegal :-( )

I should have remembered, NTSC/PAL has no bearing on Blu-Ray, just the region coding. I looked myself and yes, the official Queen store does clearly state it's region free.

Actually, it still does, believe it or not. I've seen reviews for region free import releases on Blu-ray.com (specifically releases with the main feature encoded in 24p HD) that stated bonus feature materials encoded in PAL resolution (SD or HD) would not play on most to all North American BD players.

And that being said, I've placed an order for the BD version on Amazon UK. I totally forgot they knock the VAT off the price for non-UK residents, so was nice to see over a quid knocked off their listed price :)

Perhaps you get the region free version from the official Queen store and the Region B version from Amazon.co.uk (as they are still listing it as such).

LOL! So most North American BD players are incapable of switching from 24p to 50Hz material?
My UK (Region B) BD player has no problem playing 24p discs with 60Hz bonus material, for example 'Queen Montreal', 'Bupapest', 'Back To The Future' & 'The Big Lebowski'.
As expected, it also plays 24p discs with 50Hz bonus material such as 'Flash Gordon'.
