Is this the worst trailer ever? Also absolutely NO upgrade in video quality ... At least it's not cropped to 16:9. However I'm afraid it will AGAIN be NTSC :-(
Regarding the video quality of the trailer, what exactly are you comparing it to?

The old VHS versions. The ONLY improvement I noticed is the higher bitrate (and no "ghosting" of course)

It is only a you tube trailer, so perhaps not quite as good as the actual quality we may eventually get.
Even so, I still think it looks a lot better than the VHS and current DVD releases.
At least on a par with the laserdisc version, perhaps slightly better (and original 4:3 of course)
Just my opinion though.

Yes, it looks better than the VHS & DVD releases, but not as good as I hoped it would. Hope it makes sense :-)

I don't get why this had to be Blu-Ray. It would look about the same on a DVD. At least they didn't crop it to 16:9 :P
You don't have to buy it on blu ray - it's also on 3 DVD. Surely having everything on one disc is better though. Also, if done properly (and not just the lossy DVD files dumped on to blu ray) it WILL look better than the the DVD as footage is drastically compressed to fit on DVD. There is no such thing as "DVD quality", although most DVDs are much lower quality than the originally mastered digital files in the race to fit as much shit on a single DVD as possible. So called "standard definition" video is still higher definition than what a compressed DVD can offer.

Fair enough. I'd still rather pay for this to watch it in true HD. But seems like it's an upgrade nevertheless since it is overall better like you explained.

Is a better digital encode of the same analogue source an upgrade or not ? :-)

Bet the audio mix hasn't been redone though, and is still dreadfully 'hollow' sounding :-/

I think 'very muddy' would better describe it, and was probably the result of maintaining a rather ironic form of consistency in order to mask the mountain of overdubs, whereas the Wembley '86 concerts from 6 years earlier sound so clean and tight because of the minimal overdubs they did in comparison.
There's something to be said too about the video quality being even less detailed than the '86 shows. But my understanding, unless I'm mistaken (please point me in the right direction if I am!), was that the BBC was assisting with the visual aspect of the show unlike '86
