ROGER TAYLOR - NEW ALBUM ‘FUN ON EARTH’ AND COMPLETE BACK CATALOGUE ‘THE LOT’ DUE FOR RELEASE IN OCTOBER

A MUST HAVE FOR ALL ROCK’N’ROLL FANS, ‘THE LOT’ IS A SPECIAL BOX SET SPANNING THE CAREER OF ONE OF BRITAIN’S MOST SUCCESSFUL ROCK STARS EVER

Roger Taylor, legendary rock icon and full-throttle drumming powerhouse, has confirmed the release of his fifth studio album ‘Fun On Earth’ in October alongside ‘The Lot’, the complete collection of his rich back catalogue of work spanning his solo career and material from The Cross, in stunning limited collectors editions and digital formats.

‘Fun on Earth’ is one of Taylor’s most exciting and accomplished pieces of work to date. Recorded at Priory Studios, Surrey, the 13 track album is a triumphant display of superior musicianship showcasing Taylor at his vocal best. ‘Say It’s Not True’ sees Taylor team up with Jeff Beck for the contemporary Queen favourite while the smooth refrains and heartfelt lyrics of ‘Woman You’re So Beautiful’ and ‘Be With You‘ come together with the powerful, reckless spirit of opening track ‘One Night Stand‘ and ‘I Am The Drummer (In A Rock n’ Roll Band)’ on what is an exhilarating, tour de force of rock music.

In an interview with Classic Rock Taylor says of the new album: "My first solo effort (in 1981) was called Fun in Space. Ive called this one Fun On Earth. I've come down to earth a bit, but there's still a bit of fun in there - some smiley tracks. It's been written over a five year period, so it's very eclectic. Some gentle stuff, some rockier stuff, and some fairly political stuff."

With a juggernaut career spanning six decades, Taylor was the beating heart of Queen penning landmark hits ‘Radio Ga Ga’, ‘A Kind of Magic’ and ‘Days of Our Lives’ while enjoying success across the globe with accomplished solo material which reached the heights of the UK charts. A true rock icon, ‘Fun on Earth’ proves that Taylor is still performing at the top of his game and with a body of work behind him that speaks for itself, ‘The Lot’ is a must-have collectors item for any discerning music lover.

Taylor has also been working with The Queen Extravaganza, the official Queen tribute band, who are coming to the UK for the first time this October. Having achieved resounding success in North America, the spectacular touring concert has already had to add more dates to its debut UK tour due to phenomenal demand. The show is designed to take the glorious music and live experience of Queen and bring it to a new generation of fans - full tour dates below.

Full details of ‘Fun on Earth’ and ‘The Lot’ including release date and tracklisting will be announced in the coming weeks.

It does promise 'COMPLETE' doesn't it? It'll be interesting to see if GB & GT have gone as far, for example, as picking up the different mixes of 'Love Lies Bleeding' (distinguishable by their slightly different titles) of 'SHE'S a Wicked Wily Waitress' and 'She WAS a Wicked Wily Waitress'. I'm hoping after the repeated 'Ensueno' debacle with Freddie releases these sort of things have been picked up.

Perhaps GT or GB can confirm??

Thanks

I really can't wait for this, i'm putting some cash aside as it looks like it's going to be expensive with all that stuff in it.

You know what would be really truly amazing? If there was a vinyl release of the whole thing. That's just too much to hope for though, I imagine the production costs would be enormous for something that probably won't sell a huge number of copies.

Well, as long as the new album is heavy with new material, I don't see much of a problem with re-visiting some "older" stuff, too. "One Night Stand" was a download only (I missed it) and "Woman...." was sung by his son, so a Roger version could be nice.

The Lot will be excellent if 'complete' is true. First Queen family release I've been looking forward to since the 40th Anniversary discs were announced promising rare and unreleased material. And before that probably the Magic Years!

I hope The Lot also has I Wanna Testify b/w Turn on the TV!
Any way the wind blows...

I'm hoping it sees a release before October 17th so my folks can get hoild of a copy and bring it down to South Africa when they come to visit. There's fuck all chance of it getting a release out here and Amazon don't ship any longer due to the amout of stuff that gets stolen en route.

If not, it'll be piracy for me............

Just to make clear that it's not simply a label misprint, but the two versions are actually quite distinctly different mixes; one is the regular album version (UK & US I believe) which clocks in at approx 4m 24s, and the different mix (perhaps an slightly earlier one which was revised at the last minute?) appears as a b-side to the 'Cowboys & Indians' single, and this is 4m 14s. I can't recall as not listened for ages, but there may also be slight lyrical changes in this one??

I'm SO looking forward to getting remastered CD quality verisons of Liar, In Charge of My Heart, Manipulator remixes (7" and 12"), Heartland, Feel The Force etc..!!! :-)

I'm really looking forward to this! I sold my copies of MBADTK and Blue Rock to a certain Jammy Monkey here on QZ, and lost my boots containing all the alternates/remixes etc. Missing them like mad lol, so can't wait for this!!
